Good to see Steve Wright is NOT on here-quite right.

Hopefully the picture of Richard Allinson can be updated in due course.

I'm not sure when he was on Radio 2, years ago, but he covered the 10.30 pm to midnight slot and then I think maybe Richard Alison took over the slot. I believe Chris then moved to Radio Wales but used to do the occasional programme for Radio 2. He is sadly missed.

His name is spelt Chris STUART not STEWART.

In October 1989 Radio 2's Ray Moore died, so Chris Stuart joined from BBC Wales to present the early morning show.

Just had a look at the Sarah Kennedy entry & missing from her list of books are her two most recent, Cats which is a feline version of Terrible Twos and Thomas' Joke Book which is a compilation of jokes sent in by listeners.

Ken is already on there Natasha. But Stuart Maconie isn't and, I think, deserves to be. Original Critical list, Current Saturday show, Shows on 6 music (current one being Freak Zone) & plenty of deputising, not least Drivetime and Ken Bruce to name two that come to mind.
Has also written a book but the title escapes me

Thanks your Lordship, I'll update SK and add Stuart.

We could have a poll for people's top five or something, and then I could arrange the Hall of Fame in a popularity order. I'll see if I can do that using the poll method we have here.

And to add to Stuart's CV. He has deputised for Mark Radcliffe (just before last Christmas) and sometimes guests on Mark's show as he is doing tonight (23/1/07)

Wot, no Colin Berry? A true R2 legend who was there longer than most of the presenters (and did a fair bit of that side of things himself before being confined to the newsroom).

Actually shouldn't there be a newscaster's section to this?

To add still further to Stuart's credits: The Northern Soul show All singing All Dancing All Night and he was one third of the trio who presented Lloyd Cole Knew My Father (one of the better 'Comedy hour' shows, in my Opinion of course) along with David Quantick & Andrew Collins.

Some excellent choices here but I'm surprised that nobody has nominated our old mate Brian Matthew yet. May I do so?

And can I put Roger Royle up for nomination too? He's been on R2 for 23 years now, since he first presented Good Morning Sunday as a holiday one-off, prior to becoming its regular host for some years. For me, Sunday Half Hour is an underrated gem in the schedules--this week's edition featured a collection of hymns which surely contained at least one of everyone's favourites and some very good teaching on forgiveness.

Frank Topping? Someone else I can't remember.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I briefly met Frank Topping some years ago when he brought his one-man show to our local High School on a Saturday evening and then conducted worship at the Methodist Church on Sunday morning. He was every bit as engaging one-to-one as with an audience.

Thanks for nominations. The following have now entered the Radio 2 Hall of Fame:

Stuart Maconie, Alan Dell, Roger Royle.

Please let me know any other worthy career information to add.

Still to get the dirt on Hubert Gregg, Colin Berry, Brian Matthew Smile
