According to the Radio 2 schedules on the BBC website, whilst Aled sits in for Sarah next Monday, it seems that Liza Tarbuck is having a go on Tuesday... I'm not usually that bothered about her but it'll be interesting to see what she's like waking the nation up.

Nick.

I think she'll be OK. I like her bubbly, somewhat "naughty" style and it will make a refeshing change first thing in the morning, no doubt.

Radio Times online says Liza is in for the rest of that week. Aled is covering only on Monday.

Mark, do you actually read your posts after you click the "submit" button? I'm not really sure what the above means!

I thought at some stage she would turn up to cover Dawn Patrol.

Given that I appeared to be about the only person on the planet who enjoyed her 10am Saturday show at the turn of the year, I'm surprised to see that she's going to be on the Dawn Patrol. But I wish her well.

My idea is the station always seems to have a Male broadcaster covering Sarah and now bring a female in to do it. It does push a few presenters aside.

Either that or the usual subs were doing other things.

They've had a female fill in before. I've heard Lynn Parsons, but I wasn't too keen.

Lizas doing the whole week I think-it seems Aled Jones has said something to annoy BBC bosses...

And on what basis of fact do you make that statement?

Seems sensible to me to have the one presenter for the whole week, if they're available.

It could be, of course, that Aled Jones has other commitments - or is that too obvious a conclusion to arrive at?

She doesn't interact with John Marsh. The others do and say thank you. Maybe thats her celebrity status. I don't really rate her on Dawn Patrol.

Maybe it's because she's never met him and doesn't know what to say!
Her style is in many ways similar to that of SK, replace cats with a dog and it's much the same, which is fine by me. I prefer Lisa to Alice Richardson, who has become unbearably smug.

Exactly. You only get friendly banter (mock insults, etc) when you develop a rapport with someone and clearly for Lisa she hasn't yet managed to do so with boggy.

I still prefer RA in the depping role but Lisa's OK.

I think her style is an old Radio One straight out of the news with a jingle, and no comment to the newsreader. I think RA is better covering.

I like Liza (with a z). Given time, I'm sure she could settle nicely into Sarah's chair, if that's what's wanted all round. An old Radio One (sic) she ain't.

Why is Lisa an "old Radio One", Mark?

Is that as opposed to "Radio One bent"? Laughing

Laughing You are priceless, mark.

I will agree, each song she plays in her given ninety minutes is different, to the one before.

Given that music choice is down to the producer, do we know if it's Sarah's usual team this week? The show tunes etc implies that it is.

In the case of Sarah Kennedy, it's clear that the music choices are generally the producer's (outside of show tunes, her musical knowledge is pathetic, let's be honest), but I'm sure it's the regular team because it looks like Lisa has been parachuted in at relatively short notice so it's easier to simply drop her into an existing format where planning has already been done.

I did hear her playing a fantastic 'Fountains of Wayne' track earlier this week that she always manages to crowbar into the proceedings (I remember her saying that when she filled in for Wossy during the dark months)... so I presume she has some say in music production.

However, I have to say Liza's done a pretty awful job this week - in some ways she's quite lovable and if she's meant to be doing a parody of SK, then it's even more charming - but she just really seems like a lady lost. Not making sense of the papers and with little idea about how the show is progressing or what music is coming up next. Perhaps its the early morning - heaven knows what I'd be like doing my job getting up at 3am...

I don't like levelling criticism at presenters, but I find her only maginally more listenable than Davina (and we don't mention that now, do we).

Nick.

Poor Liza. She is such a bubbly woman, but this slot simply isn't for her! Sad

I've only heard about 10 minutes of one show so not really qualified to comment but a thought struck me. As far as I can remember she has only done shows on R2 with someone else (please correct me if I'm wrong) so maybe that's what's been wrong this week?

The shows she's done in the past haven't been bad.

Hello Aitch,
I don't think Liza had a sidekick when she was covering Steve Wright's show over the last two Christmases or for her recent stint doing Jonathan Ross' Saturday show.

Yes, you're right. I've heard her "solo" on R2 before.

Liza Tarbuck is okay; I just don't think she is suited to early mornings.

The shows have been slightly dry, and not very uplifting.

I think she's a slow burner - just needs more time (which she won't get) to settle in.

I hope you are permanently banned for that vile comment. You really are a nasty individual. Nothing changes.
