There are rumours that Shilpa Shetty is in talks to join Eastenders.

Why?

I'm not in the least interested in a beautiful Indian actress joining (or not - it's in the People after all) Eastenders, but I don't see what's distasteful about the post.

There does seem to be this tendancy of executive producers to focus on a famous "face" and then contrive a role for him/her in one of the soaps regardless of storyline. Sometimes the actual outcome can be quite absurd.

Silpa Shetty is undoubtedly a beautiful and telented actress, but Albert Square in Walford? Come on, BBC...........
