What a great idea. I can just see them all dancing to this late into the night in the bars of Benidorm, Aya Napa and the like.
Best avoid those places, eh? _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Went there 30 years ago, I was very young, that's my excuse! Not my cup of tea now. _________________ MiS |

Maybe in another 30 years, MiS - my mother (who's 80) has just been for a week! Says she can't see what all the fuss is about.
(At this time of year, anyway) _________________ Ron |

A couple of years ago my wife and I were driving up the coast from Alicante airport to Javea and Moraira and we decided to drive into Benidorm to see what it was really like. Although the huge hotels and endless "British bars" selling Sunday roasts and lager weren't to be recommended to anyone of discernment, I have to say that the little tapas bars in the backstreets of the old town on the hill were an absolute delight. Needless to say, there were very few holidaying Brits in them and the air was full of lunchtime chatter by locals.
So all is not bad with Benidorm. Even Torremolinos, down on the Costa Del Sol, has its plus points too (out of season, anyhow)! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

That's a coincidence! Until 12 months ago we used to live in Javea! And I only went to Benidorm once, to pick up a friend who was staying there. Never again. _________________ Minx

It's true, there are some very pretty parts of Benidorm, if you look for them, and Calpe was nice, I seem to recall. _________________ MiS |

The rock at Calpe is very dramatic, and there are some lovely restaurants and bars at its foot, surrounding the harbour. We were last there during one of the many fieras and fiestas, which was a public holiday, and the place was bustling.
We have friends who live in Javea (very much a British ex-pat enclave) and also in Moraira and we stay with them regularly.
I have to confess that I do enjoy the hustle and bustle of Benidorm, especially at night, even though it was very much the "Blackpool of the 1980s and 90s"! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |
