There's a new radio station coming to Oxford - and looking to directly challenge the BBC local and Radio 2. Called Jack FM, it aims to have an 'eclectic' mix of music although it looks much like a typical R2 hour, from the report here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6214080.stm
What amuses me most about the report is this comment from Radio's Head of Music Colin Martin:
Quote: | "People in America initially found Jack appealing," he says, "but they tired of it quite quickly because the same tracks kept coming around again". |
What? Have they only got one Van Morrison record or something..?
But competition is healthy, so let's hope it keeps R2 on it's toes. |

I don't think radio 2 will be too troubled about that, it's only a local radio station. |
