Quote: | Xfm today announces that Pete Mitchell, the successful radio presenter who was the first to play Oasis on air, will present the weekday Xfm Manchester Breakfast Show, from 7-11am, commencing on 15th June 2009. Mitchell will also present Razor Cuts, a specialist music show, across the network on Sunday evening as well as various music documentaries.
Following the recent signing of day-time network presenter, Richard Skinner and Xfm London’s Breakfast Show presenter, Ian Camfield, Pete's wealth of experience and success as a broadcaster made him the station’s first choice to present the breakfast show in Manchester.
The multi Sony Award winning presenter has vast broadcasting experience spanning many radio stations including BBC Radio 2, where he wrote, produced and presented a number of documentaries, alongside presenting his own weekend shows and covering shifts on Radio 2 and 6 Music. Previously, Pete was one half of the Sony Award winning duo, Pete & Geoff, presenting Virgin Radio Breakfast, as well as the critically acclaimed Razor Cuts show on Sunday evenings.
Pete said “I'm looking forward to coming back to Manchester, to a station as committed to serious music broadcasting as Xfm. I can’t wait to get started and make the show my own.”
Paul Jackson, Group Programme Director, 95.8 Capital FM, The Hit Music Network & The XFM Network said “Pete is renowned for his fresh, witty and slightly risqué style of broadcasting, along with a high level of experience and a wide knowledge of the radio industry. I have no doubt in my mind that Pete will be an absolute success at Xfm Manchester and we are thrilled to have him as part of the team.”

"Fresh, witty and slightly risqué style..."
Shame he didn't bring any of that to his Radio 2 work. Perhaps he wasn't allowed to. _________________ Ron |

Yes, that line (obviously written by a good PR person) stuck out a mile with me, too. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Is there any news of the other displaced weekend presenter Mo Dutta? I will miss him. Although not a regular listener, on the mornings that I did wake up in time, I enjoyed his whittering and conversations with Jim Bacon and Simon Calder. |

Haven't heard anything about where Mo's going next. But doesn't he travel from his home in Birmingham to London every week to present the show, and then travel all the way back? - I think I heard him mentioning it a few weeks ago. Maybe that has something to do with it? _________________ Fred Hart

As does Janice Long... and when she gets back to Brum on a Friday, she's up on Saturday morning to present her excellent show on BBC WM. Hard working DJs - that's Radio 2 for you. |

It's only an hour and a bit from New Street to Euston! Plenty of people commute further than that each and every day of the week. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I was not an avid Mo Dutta listener, but I am surprised that he has been axed after 15 years. As much as some of us disliked him, we will also miss him in a funny kind of way!
Great news that Richard Allinson is back on Radio 2, though! |
