Actually, I think Richard Allinson would be a good regular replacement for the Dawn Patrol (or whatever it will be renamed) when SK's contract ends. Or perhaps even the lovely Zoe Ball? _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I really don't see the need of the Dawn Patrol. Alex Lester's show could finish at 7.00am, or Terry Wogan could come on at 7.00am. The newspaper review could be conducted by either Lester or Wogan, though I suspect Wogan would inject a lot of humour into it! |

Deffo not Allinson for DP, Colby , that's the worst idea I've heard in a very long history of really bad ideas.
Yeah, Blighty, Alex till 7am would be fab , but only if Sarah K takes over from Wogan. I could stay in bed till noon wracking my brain between orange juice and prune..... |

I personally think it's a very good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. Alex Lester could replace Wogan, too; I do quite like Alex.
Zoe Ball for Drivetime? Yep, that sounds good too! (I might even start listening again). _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I enjoyed Richard Madeley's recent stint on the Dawn Patrol. I wouldn't mind hearing more of him on the network. |

Fab music again this morning, especially track 2, which, I'd not heard before.
Lisa Hannigan - I don't Know.
Here it is...

I like that.
Looking forward to tomorrow's newspaper review too. No Politics. |

Yes, that is nice. A sort of lighter Juliet Turner. Cute as a button, too.
I notice (too late) she played some live for Simon Mayo last week.
Not sure about the breathy vocals on some of the other songs she's done, but pretty damn good!
No politics, huh? That could be a tad difficult _________________ Ron |

I saw Darts in concert - must have been 1979? Think it was Fairfield Halls Croydon. _________________ MiS |

Some mornings SK just doesn't sound on the ball at all, and today was one of those occasions. |

I think she's got her outfit for Ascot as she mentioned it on Thursday show. |

Which day was Madame gracing Ascot with her presence?
Just wondered 'cos I've got to get my pen and paper ready for the annual game of "Drop the Name".
My bet's on one minute thirty seconds this year ; that's elapsed waffle time before first reference to the "great and good" who happened to be at said event, although to listen to herself you'd think they were HER guests! |

Yeah well GG, it's her style of entertainment, and if folks don't want to hear her Ascot report then they won't tune in that day. But millions will.
If you were at the Mobo or the Football Awards you would very quickly tell us who you met
Let folks listen to the woman if they want. Let her tell us her Ascot report. When you think of it, Sarah Kennedy is the inventor of TWITTER !

Yes I remember my assistant at work used to take two days off every year for Ascot and she and two friends would spend a fortune on a new outfit with a 'gorgeous' hat, get fancy photos taken there and also take their own photos with a celebrity of two in the background. She loved it, twas the highlight of her year. |

PRATTLE, more like, John!
I don't actually mind her mentioning it; it's the fact that it gets mentioned "ad nauseam" that grinds on me after a bit, bit like the holidays. Maybe I'm getting it wrong (and to be fair I'm no horseracing fan) but it all comes across as a bit patronising.
As you say though, it's her style and some do seem to like it. |

I really can't understand why anyone would listen to a radio show if they know they don't like it; it's a kind of masochism! I know which shows on R2 I dislike, so I avoid them - other radio Stations are available _________________ MiS |

It's not patronising because Ascot is not exclusive to celebrities; my work colleague and her mates go to Ascot for a jolly every year, travelling down from Birmingham, it's a fun time shared by thousands of folks from around the country so how is it patronising? |

I did say that maybe I was getting it wrong, John!
MIS, I don't actually dislike the show itself, simply certain aspects of the presenter's style. |

So it was Aled last week and Liza Tarbuck this coming week. I didn't realise Sarah was off two weeks. Although she was at Ascot one of the weeks with her big hat on. |

Apparently Sarah doesn't put the paper review together anymore. So the scissors lay to rest. Very editorial Radio 2 have suddenly got. |

I seem to recall either this morning or yesterday morning, she was musing over why Michael Jackson's children were not black. One might imagine she would steer clear of this topic, given her recent history of gaffe's, but on the other hand she does sound a bit "colonial". _________________ Minx

Well I think her observation is relevant. I'm in a mixed race family and a significant number of family friends are too and none of the offspring of black/white parents look as white as Jackson's.
Yes, occasionally one will get a blue eyed blonde child but to have TWO of them is just statistically unlikely. Particularly as Jackson was naturally quite dark. I don't think Jackson fathered those children.

Interesting story on the DP this morning, about the job as a Witch--- £50K a year! It's just up the road from here- about 20 miles as the broomstick flies. If it wasn't for all that green facepaint( plays havoc with my complection) I'd be casting an applicationgothroughonthenodicous spell before breakfast. |

I think both Sarah and Johnnie have been really on form this past week - five days of brilliant shows. Or perhaps I've just been in a good mood - but I enjoyed waking up this week. |
