Radio 2 do play from time to time soundtracks from movies, but since Barry Norman has joined we have heard a few more.

Duran Duran - View To A Kill on drivetime this evening ( Thursday )

What are your favourite movie songs?

Anything sung by Fred Astaire

Night And Day
I've Got You On My Mind
Cheek To Cheek
Isn't This A Lovely Day
Top Hat, White Tie and Tails
Let's Face The Music And Dance
I'm Putting All My Eggs In One Basket
I'm Building Up To An Awful Let Down
Let Yourself Go
A Fine Romance
The Way You Look Tonight
Never Gonna Dance
Pick Yourself Up
Bojangles Of Harlem
They Can't Take That Away From Me
They All Laughed
I've Got Beginner's Luck
Let's Call The Whole Thing Off
Shall We Dance
A Foggy Day
Things Are Looking Up
Nice Work If You Can Get It
Change Partners
Puttin' On The Ritz

and others

Now THERE'S a singer and song list I wouldn't argue with! fantastic stuff. Don't recognise all the tracks but most of them and I'll bet I know the rest too.
Astaire, Crosby, Sinatra - unbeatable.

Whilst I would not argue with the above, might I add a couple of pieces of music.

Sirius by The Alan Parsons Project from Flubber, and the soundtrack from Ladyhawke

"Sensurround" by They Might Be Giants: a song from a movie, about another movie, by a band named after yet another movie - and bloody brilliant!

I've been enjoying (again) the soundtrack to the Coen brothers film, Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Some great tracks on that. My two favourites have to be:

Down In The River To Pray - Alison Krauss
and
Keep On The Sunny Side - The Whites

great stuff!

Yes ernie brilliant, especially Aliso Kraus, she has the voice of an angel,IMHO.

One of my favourites is Streets Of Philadelphia, by Bruce Springsteen from the film Philadelphia.

can we call it 'Film Songs' or Soundtracks
I detest the word Movie (we're not in America... well, I'm not living there anyway)

I like, no I love, the songs from the film 'Les Chorists' - in english 'The Chorus' how sad, I know all the words and everything! Laughing
