Did anyone hear John Barrowman presenting the 6-8am slot today?

I heard the first half hour and have to say that it wasn't great. He sounded as if he was either scripted or part of an "act" (can't make up my mind which) and I found it annoying.

I don't like the way he said: "Now listen" a lot of the time, usually just before telling everyone how to get in touch with him.

He read a few texts at around 6:15ish and it sounded like the texts were the main part of the show, not the music!

Is this just me being too critical though? - What did you all think of the show?

Unusually for me, I turned the radio on early today and wondered who this over enthusiastic presenter was! Laughing
I found him ok to be honest but I only listened for half an hour so it wouldn't be fair to judge him..
I did find his laughter at the emails describing "the most unusual place to wake up" a little ott!
I think he's a likeable personality...

He was a bit "OTT" for me too, though I find him quite likeable really. My husbands reaction - "who's this giddy kipper" probably says it all.

I'm afraid he just got on my nerves. I was up bright and early to get ready for work, listening in to the last 20 minutes of Richard Allinson and then the first hour of John Barrowman. He did nothing for me, another to add to the list in my other thread. Now Richard Allinson I could listen to all day!

Angela-Its great to know there's another Richard Allinson fan on this board-Like you I wish RA was broadcasting for longer on Radio 2.

Maybe he will get a promotion to daylight broadcasting/the daytime schedules at some point in the future.
