Quite unsolicited, we have received (actually it was addressed to my wife, as "Ms...") and my mum also (for whom the package was addressed to my dad, who died two years ago) this device

which claims to save water and energy bills, by restricting the flow through your shower. Seems to be suitable only for non-electric mixer-type showers such as those which operate from the bath taps. I didn't realise there were so many of that type around that it would be cost-and-energy-effective to warrant such a mass mailing - apparently every home in the UK is going to get one. Rolling Eyes

Interesting, Ron. Funnily enough we sent off for one (paid for) a couple of months ago (different company) but no good and had to get a refund. I'll try this one though!

It wouldn't save a bean with me, when I shower ( rarely), I stand on the drain to stop the water draining away, I stay in the shower until the water is just about to spill over the top of the shower tray... then I know that I've used the same amount of water as all previous showers.... this device would mean I'd have to be in the shower for longer. We have two of those run from the main system ( non-electric) showers .... both of them have the now legally required anti scold system... which means you freeze to death in the shower cos they won't let you turn the water up to roasty toasty level. So the upshot is ... I prefer a bath which uses loads of water.

For the last three days all I've had to do to get a power shower is stand outside for a few minutes.

We had one of those bath/tap shower things in our lodge in the Lakes last week - the flow was so weak even my wife gave up and had baths. I didn't notice, but, since the pressure out of every other tap was the strength of a geyser, perhaps they had already installed one of these gadgets. If they had, it seems to defeat the object.

We had a power shower fitted because like you Ron it was like a trickle, the house has a very shallow roof. Before that I never used the shower as it was a waste of time.

Don't think I'll use one of these gadgets.

I've always much preferred a bath, though, in common with a famous blogster and early-hours presenter, I am inclined to fall asleep while having a luxurious soak Embarassed

Well they can keep mine.. I recently installed a shower for Mrs SF using those round "drench" heads.. she junked the standard 4" head and bought the 9" version! it really puts out the H2o Laughing

Not keen at first, I soon found it to be a very pleasant experience too.
We both like the US style of shower.. ie, powerful Razz
