OK, nowt wrong with Take That... but because they're playing gigs in London Radio 2 is playing them every hour. But what about last week when TT were in Manchester? Or the week before in Cardiff?

Just seems another case of the typical London bias of our "national" stations.

It's a bit of a joke Ian. Just another excuse for R2 to jump on a bandwagon!

Radio 2 is very London-centric at times.

Yeah.

Take That played three night at the Ricoh Stadium, Coventry, in June, nearly 100,000 people attended in total.

BBC probably never reported it (oh we'll wait till it comes to London)

Why just concentrate on an OKish boyband anyway?
I'm sure there have been plenty of concerts played at Wembley Stadium over the past few months.
A group of people I know went to see ACDC, did they get a mention?
Thought not as Radio 2 only seems interested in the female audience a lot of the time

I've seen Take That live recently and I have to say that although their music isn't what I'd buy or normally pay to see they put on a really professional show which was of exceptionally high standard all round. They're not in the same league as other big bands I've seen over the last 30 years (Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd... even Micheal Jackson, etc) but they're certainly much more than an "OK-ish boy band" for sure.

They can fill stadiums (stadia?) and audiences obviously have a good time, so what's the problem?

The fact that R2 has been jumping on the Take That PR wagon results from the BBC thinking that it will help to attract new listeners to the station. Can't see what's wrong with that - even if I don't listen much to the station these days.

I agree.

You have got to take your hat off re Take That-they have done wonderfully well second time around.

Brilliant shows and excellent music-the latest album they have out is fabulous imho.

No problem at all in my book in Radio 2 playing TT in it's schedules.

Since I've been brainwashed into listening to their music at home and in the car (I'm outnumbered, basically!) I will say that I think Gary Barlow's a very good (and under-rated) songwriter.

They're much better second time around - without Robbie Williams. Good for them.

Could not agree more Colby.

I hope TT do not take back Robbie Williams. I think they are fine as they are and hope they continue as a 4 person group for a good few more years yet.

Just to be clear - my issue is not with Radio 2 playing Take That, but rather with the London concerts being banged on about while the concerts in the rest of the country were largely ignored. As if the band and their fans only really matter when in London.
