Terrific to hear Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat being sung by Jennifer Warne on Radcliffe & Maconie tonight. For a while it sounded a bit like Beth Neilson Chapman. Lovely!

Apparently Judy Collins also recorded it, but I can't recall ever having heard that one. Anyone know the album it was on?

Hello Minx

Funnily enough, it's on "Judy Collins Sings Leonard Cohen: Democracy"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sings-Leonard-Cohen-Judy-Collins/dp/B0002M5TE8/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1248815912&sr=1-7

I'll happily look such things up, but a top tip is to look on this site
http://www.allmusic.com/
when you want to find who sang what and on which album. It doesn't tell you if they're still available, though - you still have to check with your favourite online retailer.

I've got that LP by Jennifer Warnes. I remember it was nicknamed 'Jenny sings Lenny!' Laughing

Thanks for that guys. Maybe I'll start downloading.

Some time ago I mentioned about getting a deck so that we could transfer our old LPs to CD format. Well, we got one the other week and with great excitement I opened up the large box of LP's that we have been lugging round the world since the early nineties. Only to find that none of my LP's were in there! It's full of my husband's collection - Genesis, Klaatu (??), Alan Parsons Project, Jethro Tull, Tangerine Dream, Moody Blues, etc.

I'd been so looking forward to listening to all my Leonard Cohen and Janis Ian stuff again, but after all this time and so many removals, I've no idea what I did with them. Sad Another reason to start downloading I guess.

Stuart Maconie also played Esther Ofarim's version of 'Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye' on the Freak Zone (6 Music) last Sunday.

It's on the reissue of Esther's 'In London' album.
