Indeed you're right: "In my opinion". And in the opinion of many others, too. Each individual licence-fee payer has a right to an opinion, of course.

Sarah does get some bad feedback on these forums when she goes sick. It's just bizzare it concides with a bank holiday weekend and takes a sicky.

Wash yer mouth out, Mark! You'll be accused of being SK-ist otherwise! Cool

Neither Sarah Kennedy or Terry Wogan have ever worked on bank holidays and they aren't the only ones to take holiday Mondays off.

I think you have missed this one? It's not about Bank Holidays, it's Sarah who came back after her wasp bite last Tuesday after the monday to recover, and worked for Tuesday and Wednesday, and went sick again Thursday and Friday. It's just strange and suspicious, sounds well for two days and goes off sick for two days when there is a bank holiday weekend coming up. We know Adrian her other half has dealings with horses, so maybe she was needed for the cake and tea making Laughing

So yes she would be back Tuesday after bank holiday Monday. A lot of people also work Bank Holidays, so why not the BBC HIGH paid people?

It happens so often in France they have an expression for it ... "Faire le pont"

Literal meaning “build a bridge” but used to explain having an extra day ( sometimes two) off before a long weekend.

Which, in non-patronising English, means "make the bridge" (connection), Mark. That said, I don't think you need to so carry on....

To be fair, it does depend on the nature of their contracts.

Have you never heard of someone having a relapse Mark???

No one knows what could have happened so why not stop speculating.

I agree with Helen: Mark, have you never been ill, recovered, then had a relapse? It happens.

Sarah's partner has a high-ranking job in racing, I very much doubt he has tp provide tea and cake, and as far as I know horses don't require either!! Have no idea what you are getting at there Mark Confused

What explanation was given for Sarah's absence this week? It wasn't planned was it?

She's unwell. Let's hope Sarah is back soon. I don't mind Aled, but he's not as good.

The quote goes. I see you tomorrow if spared. Maybe it was planned and we weren't told, as people usually take it she's off ill all the time. She was ill last week?

Maybe a holiday this week? I know we all can't plan to be ill. Aled seems very comfortable on the Dawn Patrol. I did have visions she would return next week and call it a day? I hope not as this would mean a big change, and she still can continue for many years.

I disagree about Aled sounding uncomfortable on the Dawn Patrol. He's a very natural broadcaster and has done the show loads of times now.

Can I just ask you a question? Do you ever listen to a show for what it is rather than to try and analyse almost every word or breath the presenter takes?

Radio is there to be listened to rather than dissected into tiny pieces.

I avoid Dawn Patrol when SK is presenting but when I've heard Aled doing it he always sounds like he's enjoying it - and that comes across with audiences too. He's a good radio broadcaster in my opinion.

Interesting recent posts-Aled Jones style of broadcasting imho makes me want to puke.

He is about as exciting as cold cabbage. He is devoid of any personality-his syle of broadcasting is totally bland /just plain vanilla etc.

Bring in the mighty Richard Allinson as the permanent replacement on the Dawn Patrol gig.

It's different how things are changing with Bob at the helm? Different presenters covering shows. Yes Richard does cover Dawn Patrol, but too has his own shows, and may have been busy this week to do it?

I'm looking forward to hearing Kennedy's latest excuses for illness on her eventual return to work.

She is a laughing stock and the BBC management have finally conceded as much.

Her days thank god are numbered.

When is her contract up for renewal again-I have forgotten.

You know this for a fact her days are numbered? Contracts have nothing to do with anyone apart from Sarah and the BBC. Thinking about this the sickness is a private matter with her and the BBC why she does take a few days off sick and may not be avoided. I'm not trying to defend her, but the facts are a private.

It does appear that her days are a-numbered Mark? Nobody can disagree with that?

As I said it will be interesting to hear her reasons on her return for her recent bout of absense.

Quite frankly it's the wasp I feel really sorry for is this latest saga.

People like Sarah are demanding to carry on, but maybe her hands are tied so Radio 2 do false her to take leave every so often, as the station may think she looks so worn out and sounds worn out on air. There are deeper issues which we will ever know, and thats a private matter between her and the BBC.

What a charmer you are Mark - Sarah has the misfortune to be ill and you just insult her. How kind of you Rolling Eyes

And as for your comments about Aled, if you want

I can't help feeling Sarah may have something seriously wrong with her. I hope that is not the case but there is something not right here, I don't think this is anything to do with a wasp sting.
I wish her well, ok she can be annoying but that's the way she is I suppose.

As for replacements give me Aled above the banal dullness of Allinson any day.

I thought SK was sounding very srange for about a week before she went off sick. She was at times rambling and incoherent, and seemed to have trouble with words. I was surprised it wasn't mentioned it on this forum.

I hope it's nothing serious; she's not my cup of tea these days but I wouldn't wish her ill, and I think her regular slot is important to her. I wouldn't like to get up at the hour she does five days a week, it must be very wearing particularly at her age. Get well soon Sarah!

Surely its down to your own personal taste. I'm not keen on listening to Aled Jones, in fact I gave up by Friday and I can't stand the thought of him all next week. I don't like SK particularly but compared to some of the newcomers, she is bearable. On the other hand, Johnnie Walker, Stuart Maconie and Richard Allinson I could listen to all day long! Very Happy

Now with the breakfast show new incumbent sorted I hope the BBC can get on now and sort out a replacement for Sarah Kennedy.

I imagine the timings of the Dawn Patrol will change in any event as Chris Evans will no doubt start on the breakfast show earlier.

Perhaps they won't have a replacement at all, instead allowing Alex Lester to present his show all the way through to the start of Chris Evans.

In any event it will be interesting to see what transpires re future weekday schedule changes.

Why "no doubt"? The shouty person didn't seem to take to the early starts before, so what's different now? And a regular five early mornings a week will certainly play havoc with his "high cholesterol" life-style, so maybe he'll be looking for a later start rather than an earlier one.

Personally no start at all will suit me fine.
