Shame the result is a distortion of the sentiment.

COG - Chris Old Geezers.. I wonder if Sarah will go now? Alex moved to 4-7am followed by Chris. Chris Moyles starts at 6.30am on R1, so maybe Radio 2 Breakfast will do the same? Time will tell what January 2010 will bring.

Think my censored thread title when he got Drivel Time was the same as yours John!

I reckon Jonathan Ross would have been lined up for Breakfast if he hadn't blown it with that phone call?

I don't think so Mark. He sat in once and I don't think it went down too well, he's never been asked back has he?

I'm very impressed how Chris has matured over the years.
As he said, when Terry made his anouncement this morning shortly after 8, he (Chris) was changing his baby's nappies. Some years back, he said, he would have been in some hole 2doing all the wrong things".
Chris spoke of how his life had changed & how he had changed, & this is reflected in his shows.
I enjoy chris at drivetime but think he will be great at breakfast. Maybe we can have a mellow drivetime in the evenings to unwind to.
I just hope it won't be Macaroni doing drivetime. Another thing they can change is the mid evening slot. Those two know it alls are beginning to irritate me

If it had been Ross at breakfast, radio 2 would have lost me to Harry Potter. I mean MAGIC

Thinking of Ross, that is why I like Chris. Chris had his silly moments in the past, but he has matured into a sensible human being and a good presenter
Ross has remained a silly adolescent

Chris has got his head screwed on. In the other hand he had to mature if he wanted to get this far. I wonder if CE will take over from Tel doing CIN on Radio and TV in the future?

You'd assume so at his age. However, the silly and patronising tone of his on-air trails indicates otherwise. I guess he must be having the last laugh because we're paying him heaps to carry on with this rubbish.

Does it really matter?

Colby!

If Christ Evans doing the breakfast show is the biggest problem in your life you should consider yourself bloody lucky!

To paraphrase those Radio Times adverts "Other breakfast shows are available....."

Definitely not. But people who are paid too much who are in a position of squandering my hard-earned cash on egotistical and half-talented presenters is certainly an issue, thanks all the same.

What??? Your radio only has Radio 2. Try retuning... you may be shocked to find that there are dozens of other stations out there

If I don't like something I ignore it... Maybe you should try the same. We got your point back at the start of the thread, you don't have to keep repeating yourself!

And all the "breakfast shows" that are available over-air are crap.

I do, and I will. Just like I did with the appalling Driveltime. Thanks for the advice however.

And that will most likely be the kiss of death on that particular venture. Certainly I wouldn't be tuning into anything hosted by him. Crying or Very sad

Terry is staying with Children in need for now Mark, it will probably be sometime before Chris takes over that if at all.

Would love to hear Radcliffe and Maconie on drivetime.

More than likely it will be Simon Mayo which is also fine with me.

Me too. Or - better still - at breakfast! (Not likely because the management don't want us to think at that time of the day).

It appears to have been decided already - according to a BBC Press release this morning.

Never been much of an Evans fan before he came to R2 but he surprised me with his Saturday show which I enjoyed. Drivetime I on the whole enjoy but it has days when he gets an idea in his head and goes on and on - like any other show I'll give it a go and wish him all the best, if its not for me I'll listen to something else.

Actually, he did it a few times, although only once or twice a year for over about a 2-year period (I remember because he played my favourite band every day) but it just sort of tailed off.

I'm surprised that Lady BDS hasn't popped in yet to push Danny Baker's cause for doing Drivetime.

I have to say, after his recent performance in the Ross slot, I might be tempted to second her Ladyship! Wink

Evans? Grrrrrr. Twisted Evil

It was They Might Be Giants I remember - he played songs from their kids album for all the mums and dads on the school run.

There's an interesting and heated debate on this subject on BBC2's Newsnight right now - Matthew Bannister and Nick Ferrari.
