Chris had his silly moments in the past, but he has matured into a sensible human being and a good presenter

Judging by the trailers played frequently for his dire Driveltime show I would say anything but.

I too am adopting the motto which I have anyway for the past 3 and half years Evans on Radio off!

Last week I had to visit the docs at 5.20pm in the waiting room they had Evans on Radio 2 playing, when I saw the doc she took my blood pressure and it was on the high side. I said is it any wonder when you have that radio presenter screaming in your waiting room!

The insufferable Evans has a double handicap - not only does he have the face for radio but neither does he have the voice!

Just listening to Wogan.. I wonder if the Chris Evans Breakfast show will continue to feature the "pause for thought" bit - if that's what it's called?

I doubt it somehow.. surely this wouldn't go down well with some of Tel's listeners..

It doesn't really matter what the listeners think any more so they'll probably knock it on the head.

I can't imagine Evans keeping quiet long enough to include PFT.

There are some things that are simply station policy and Evans will have to comply.

When he took over drivetime he was told he had to continue the business news features. The format was changed and the presenter did other things, too, but the business news survived the Walker -> Evans transition. Similarly, the sports news is still there.

Pause for Thought is parachuted into the schedules and is produced by Unique; it's not even the responsibility of the show's producer (other than making space for it).

I'm sure Evans will continue to use Lynn Bowles for traffic news, just as he inherited Sally Traffic. He won't have it all his own way!

I'm also guessing Evans will want to start earlier up against Moyles? It's all new revamp for mornings. It will ease the pressure off commercial radio a little with Wogan going, but I'm sure there are still shock waves through commerical radio land?

I think Commercial Radio will be looking forward to this especially stations like Magic and Smooth. Radio 2 have made a huge error and Commercial radio will inherit a lot of new listeners through this. Perhaps the only BBC stations to gain from it are 5 Live and 6 music. Unless you mean at the end of the day when doubtless viewers will return to Radio 2 at Drivetime well if they appoint a proper DJ who takes to listeners and not screams at them.

Chris Evans will have no control over PFT. He will have to turn off the mic for a few minutes and will be included in breakfast.

Me too. I bet Roger Royle can handle the insufferable Evans with ease.

PFT could fit in as it's on at 6.15 and 9.15. It wouldn't be a problem if Chris was on between 6.30-9am.

Will Chris face appear on the Radio 2 forum.

I think Chris is a lot more respectful than you might think, I can quite easily see the PFT slot staying where it is regardless of who is broadcasting at that time of day.

But, at present, the slot allocated to the breakfast presenter is 7.30-9.30am. Why, therefore, are you speculating about something that isn't yet an issue?

I tell you what though, we'll all be so sick of the Evans' trails that you won't want to switch on Radio 2 at all for at least 3 months until it all dies down!

Just think - the trails during December and right up to the unsufferable one actually coming on air in January are going to be unbearable. Insufferable, in fact!

His bloody awful trails are bad enough now.

Someone needs to set up a new radio station in direct competition to Radio 2, but without all the awful bits!

My point exactly!

Come on, somebody out there must be able to invent a radio with a programmeable (sp?) voice censor to silence the insufferable one!

My wife isn't Wogan's best supporter at the best of times but she tolerates his show in the morning as she gets ready for her day. Then, the other day, I announced that she wouldn't have to put up with him for much longer because in January there will be a new breakfast presenter on the world's most listened-to radio station.

On learning who it would be she looked at me aghast and said:

"No way. Please tell me you're joking! What the hell's going on at the BBC?".

Oh how I chuckled. Hell hath no fury, etc etc...........

I have just what you need Helen. It's called Spotify. It has a 100% effective Evans-eliminator!

That's fair enough Helen! Smile

However, internet-radios (which have the added ability to hook into a broadband wifi router and log "radio" stations for listening as you would normal FM or DAB stations) will facilitate this.

Given the current state of Radio on "our BBC", we might have to look at such alternatives!

I can just imagine a discussion taking place in early 2010 at Radio2 well chaps we have a dilema here, since Wogan has gone the Breakfast ratings have dipped tremendously but on the plus side Drivetime ratings have gone through the roof!!

Or, more accurately, it's the slot that's key and not the presenter.
