Another major British company (there aren't many left) on the block -
Kraft has made a takeover bid for Cadbury

Is Cadbury a "British company" with such a large proportion of its shareholding being in the hands of corporate investment bodies? Does it really matter that Kraft is making a bid for control? After all, Kraft has a controlling stake in a large number of existing UK-based companies within the food and drinks sector already. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I appreciate that. Perhaps I should have put "nominally British", historically British. You can bet your bottom dollar that, despite what they say now, there will be a lot of rationalisation of brands and names, closures of some smaller factories here (some were already at risk anyway), and just watch the ingredient lists on some of your favourite chocolates. Mars and Nestlé have messed about with those they bought, in the name of cutting costs and making the same product for the whole of Europe (or the world). _________________ Ron |
