|
|
For all football fans the upcoming season is now upon us.
It's great to be able to get all the daily papers today and read reporters, players, managers and fans views/hopes for the coming season.
What I find very interesting and a recurring theme across the newspapers today is the view that Newcastle could be in for a very difficult season-some commentators think they could do a Leeds and fail into the 3rd tier of English football at the end of this season.
Any football fans on this site who are willing to advise of their hopes, dreams, expectations for this season.
As a Chelsea fanatic I think we will win the Premiership this season. |

Well... I'm hoping Preston North End can finally make that push into the Premiership after getting so close for so many years.
I'm also hoping (against hope) that Chorley FC don't become even more useless... Still at least we're not Newcastle! |

Well I'm just hoping Coventry City can play some decent football this season.
Long term aim is to get back in the Premiership, though we don't have much money so I expect we'd do an WBA and be going up and down - which isn't a bad thing as the club gets Sky money both ways. Must be nice for WBA fans to get promoted but then I'd hate sitting through their Premiership seasons losing most of the games and getting relegated, again and again.
Anyway Cov played very well yesterday (Sunday) 2-1 win against Roy Keane's ambitious Ipswich. Our three new players had good starts though the star was a loan player from Chelsea (Patrick van Anholt).
Just wish we could have a really good season but our squad is small and that will become a problem when injuries start, and a cup game game this week could be clanger as we have four good players out on international duty - youth academy this week then.

I’m hoping for some European legislation that makes watching football and drinking beer at home illegal. |

Well Rachel/I-Con that would mean that your other half would have to go to the pub to watch his football and drink his beer. What would happen if he met Colby there and brought him home to meet you? |

In typical fashion Coventry City are now playing so-so and not winning. Sold best players and not replaced them with quality, same old story.
Crowds have dropped to ~15,000 home fans (our nice new stadium holds 30,000)
Tonight we have Sheffield Utd., a team we rarely do well against.
It's so depressing I don't go to the pub before the games anymore, so 7.00pm make my way to our magnificent stadium and our no so magnificent team

That would be so much better, Briant, that's what pubs are for.

Luckily, I’m not allowed to eat red meat, so eating him alive is off the menu, I guess I’d just hold him upside down by his ankles until he said sorry.

Hopes and dreams for the football season?
I hope that all matches at every level can take place in a friendly atmosphere with no cheating, "advising" referees, arguing, bad language and violence, on or off the field.
I hope that referees and officials can use a bit of common sense, admit that they're not infallible and apologise when they make a mistake. I hope that players and managers will respect and accept a referee's decision without resorting to lynch mob tactics every time they think it's wrong.
It's all a pipe dream...
(Fortuneately, it is still possible to find something other than football to do, watch, read or listen to) _________________ Ron |

Even when they do it's too late, most of the time.
I say most of the time: two days after a game has finished they can 'take back' a wrong Red Card yet they can't say "Yes that WAS a goal so the score should be 1-0". |
