My wife has roped me into watching this every Sunday night.

I think it's quite good.

I must say the pregnant ex fiancee of the Doc imho is extremely good looking etc.

I enjoyed the first three series, and I have a funny feeling they should have left it at that.

Since it pulled in higher audience figures for ITV than anything except the soaps they were never going to do that, were they, but, as often happens with these things as time goes on, the central characters become more extreme, and I keep expecting Richard Wilson to make an appearance as Martin's uncle.

Caroline Catz (as Louisa) is nice, as is Katherine Parkinson, who looks more "at home" here than in anything else she's appeared in.

Why is it, though, that the people who inhabit some of our most beautiful and nominally peaceful locations (Cornwall, Norfolk, Jersey, Scottish Highlands) are always portrayed as being eccentric, or stupid?

I think you're right Ron, but these things always go on too long. I like DM, it's ideal Sunday night viewing, but they do seem to have run out of steam. Agree about Katherine P, I like her relationship with Joe Absolom in the show, and the scenery's lovely!

I liked the first 3 series but the ending of the last one totally spoilt it for me and I haven't seen any of these new ones.
Lovely scenery though, I have been there and it is beautiful. There was no filming then thank goodness but we bumped in Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen Shocked

He's actually a very pleasant chap.

The series ended last night with the predictable climax of the birth of Louisa's baby, amid much farce and the return of Ellingham to the human race, for a nanosecond, before reverting to self.

My mother laughed like a drain, not something that happens very often.

And who'd have thought that one of the first fruits of the relaxation of rules on product placement would be an illustration of the medicinal benefits of glugging a bottle of Smirnoff vodka? Rolling Eyes
