I didn't hear all of it but it was like old times being able to listen as I cooked tea.

Not a bad presenter, but lacks the special evans touch. I missed those dulcet tones |
I think it's too early to judge what Drivetime will be like once Simon Mayo has taken over. At the moment Simon is working with Chris Evans' team and format and it doesn't necessarily suit him.
Going into pedant mode, the Pocket Oxford Dictionary defines "dulcet" as "(of sound) sweet, soothing". I don't think even Evans' fans would describe his Drivetime persona as either of those things. Energetic, certainly, engaging, maybe, but soothing... Evans puts a lot of energy into Drivetime trying to fire people up, I suspect he would be insulted if you said you found him soothing!

Special touch? Dulcet tones? He would move me to violence if I was stuck in the same room as him. My boss recently showed me some 'combat gloves' he had just bought, now there's a thought! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Mayo is an improvement on Evans but anybody would be, however your correct he is bland. The show will never reach high levels it attained when JW was doing it. |

I'm getting back into the way of it as well, roll on January! I think I'll be able to do without a music breakfast show more than I can without Drivetime.
