It's his final cover for Wake Up To Wogan. Hope it's not his last breakfast cover, apart from the Christmas cover.

Repetition of "cover"

I have 34 seconds left on the topic " Walker in for Wogan" starting now:

Why can't we have a different newsreader when Johnnie is on?

I don't know why but it would be a welcome change.

Surely he won't do the whole of the Christmas - Jan stint???

I bet he will, Helen - last time JW was in, Deadly did 2 weeks with him and a 3rd when Wogan returned. Too much! When he's on with Johnnie, he takes over the show, and when he sings - Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad Sad

He's had Charles Nove on before - but I think he works really well with Deadly (but I know I'm nearly alone on this).

Remember when Fenella Fudge used to do the news and travel when Johnnie sat in? It's a shame that didn't last.

Yes I remember Fenella doing it, they seemed to have a good rapport.

I also remember Sally doing travel with Johnnie in the morning. Not the time when she and Lynn swapped shifts for a few months but long before that, when they were fooling around to Singing In The Rain. I think I have a recording on a cassette somewhere, so time to rummage for it I think!

This is how Breakfast shows should sound get all in for a little banter. I enjoy it when Deadly is with Johnnie. I wonder if he'll be with him over Christmas? I think we will have this kind of sound when Chris starts - except a little louder. Laughing

Disagree - Deadly just takes over. Of course he'll be on with JW at Christmas - that bloke would go to the opening of an envelope Rolling Eyes
As for when Evans starts - "a little louder" is surely an understatement Crying or Very sad

Great to hear Dean Martin and Helen O'Connell singing 'How do you like your eggs in the morning' just now! It always reminds me of holidays in the USA! Laughing

I had to laugh this morning when JW read out the item about a kitten travelling at 70 mph trapped under the bonnet of a car (unharmed I hasten to add). Deadly then went "Meeeeaaaooooow" in the way that kids do to indicate a fast car going past. Laughing

This weeks breakfast shows have all been brilliant the best bit of radio I have in a while. The cat story, the biscuit story, good music and tremendous banter. Even Deadly seems to have been quiter than normal. Had to laugh when JW said to Bowles open your arms, nothing else!! How radio 2 can fail to give JW more airtime is beyond me, the bloke is a legend and his presence improves the station no end

JW has been great as usual. But once again, it's the music choice that tops it off. The Fisherman's Friends on Wednesday were very good, not something you usually expect on a breakfast show.

Totally agree with PowerfulGlenith and Igs, the shows have been absolutely superb.
Fun stories, good banter with Deadly and Lynne and great music!!!!!
Dean Martin next to Def Leppard is the sort of thing Radio 2 should be doing in my opinion.
Then Ken Bruce comes on and we get Alexandra Burke, Kylie Minogue,Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, such a musical comedown.
I really wish Johnny had his own daytime show.
PS I like Chris Evans show too, so I don't mean at his expense

Thanks Helen!
Also I wasn't particularly knocking those other artists as some of the girls at work like them.
But when they are constantly played, with nothing different to break them up it is so boring.

JW has just said he is on for 3 weeks over Christmas which is excellent news. Quality breakfast show presenting before it changes into the BreakTrash show in January!

3 weeks less Christmas Day. Will Wogan be on Christmas Day, or will that be the best of Wogan? As posted on thread Johnnie Walker at Breakfast.
