We've decided to give up EastEnders after 24 years.

Granted that the bipolar story was very well done, the unrelieved misery and stretching of ideas to breaking point were starting to get on our nerves.

We've also given up Neighbours and have decided not to watch the new series of Waterloo Road, for rather similar reasons.

What shall we do with all the time gained?

Ian.

Laughing I must admit, I've felt like that a few times over Eastenders this year... but, although you're right about the Bi-Polar story, I do think Lacey Turner who plays the troubled Stacey, has acted the part incredibly well over the weeks. The episode where she was finally sectioned was very distressing.
I think she should be nominated for the Soap Award thingy.
I'll stick with it, although the blossoming relationship between Syed and Christian is a bit iffy for me... Confused

It must be about 15 years since I gave up on Eastenders, the misery on it was bad enough then so I dread to think what it's like now. I also gave up on Coronation St about 5 years ago when they went to extra episodes a week.

I can't say I've missed either of them!

I gave up a couple of years back when we started travelling quite a bit of the time. For a while I kept up with the story lines by website, but then lost interest. I used to work for Granada back in the seventies so always had a soft spot for Corrie, but I got over it and am quite OK now. Well... I think so. Shocked

I gave up Corrie 18 months ago, and just enjoy the extra time I've gained. From what I read, it's got very silly.

I've been watching EE lately, much against all I've ever said, only to see how they handle the Christian/ Sayeed story. The rest of it is laughable.
