ITV is to drop Big Ben at the start of title. They think it's too London with Big Ben, but will keep the bongs. ITV will change the graphics and music in November.

Alistair Stewart and Mary Nightingale will present the Evening News or Alistair Stewart and Katie Derham will present the Lunchtime News. Mark Austin and Julie Etchinham will present the News at Ten.

If the bongs are staying, then so is Big Ben. Big Ben is the Bell, not the Tower that appears on screen. I assume it's this level of accuracy that has lead to the ratings decline.

That's right, the actual building is called St Stephen's clock tower.

If they dropped that, it would be a hell of a clanger!!

Didn't someone supposedly shoot him in Dallas? Then a year or so later he woke up and it had all been a nightmare?!!

I read somewhere they were thinking of changing the music - did someone get the set of Bill Bailey DVDs last Christmas? His routine about the News At Ten music is on the 'Cosmic Jam' disc.
