Its just gone 5.30pm and already we have had two trick or treaters at the door. The first bunch were three kids accompanied by their parents, all quite terrifyingly dressed up. The second was a tiny boy accompanied by two older sisters, again all masked and gowned. The little boy immediately tried to come in the house and had to be dragged away by his sisters.

Luckily I've found a bag of loose change that I've been emptying from my purse for months, so I've set it behind the door and will dole out handfuls as they arrive.

This is going to be a long night...... Crying or Very sad

You don't have a local pub to escape to?

Being a right old misery Razz I just frowned at our staff for leaving a small ish bucket full of sweets inside our open lobby to the front entrance.
After being told I was a kill joy, I took great delight in reporting back to the girls that all the sweets had been taken (within 10 minutes) along with the bucket they were in!
So they can put that in their pipe and smoke it. Laughing

We only get small children calling, with parents at a discreet distance, and it's hard to spoil their fun.

We were out last night, and saw a lot of people of all ages as we drove round. The day falling on a Saturday, and the mild weather, helped, with some people deciding to make a fancy dress party night of it.

This was probably the first time in years that we have been at home on Halloween, so I was surprised that by the end of the evening we must have had at least 20 visits. All the kiddies were supervised by adults, who were suitably grateful that we had entered into the spirit of the event, especially when I gave them the choice of a closed fist, one containing coppers, and the other containing wrapped sweeties. (They were given both... I'm such a softie).

Got to say though, it got a bit wearing when I was watching Strictly and had to keep getting up. My husband was amazed at my patience, usually I'm like a rottweiler with unsolicited callers. Twisted Evil

As usual we got the bag of sweets etc for the visiting kids which we handed out, the only snag was they left all the wrappers on the drive on the way out Rolling Eyes

We had one lot of five cute little 3 and 4 year olds at about 5:30 - I gave them 50p each ... " we want notes" they said; Doh! will that do, I replied, of they ran.....
Just in case any older kids fancied a go, we swithced off our security lights, so the place was really dark and scary. Nobody else came.

One day soon they'll require everybody greeting Trick or Treat visitors to be CRB-cleared.
