Anything which isn't "commercially viable" (pulls in audiences and advertising revenue) is getting the chop. That means that the few things ITV used to be good at - one-off drama, news and current affairs, arts - are being cut right back.
They are, however, waving multi-million pound contracts in front of Paul O'Grady and Jonathan Ross _________________ Ron |

ITV has been very poor for a long, long time. Apart from News at Ten, and Doc Martin, I struggle to think of anything I watch. They have increased the frequency of adverts, making them even more annoying. _________________ MiS |

I don't think actual advertising time has changed, but they pad out breaks with more trailers, so that they're longer, and have changed where the breaks are inserted into programmes, so that you get an interruption just seven or eight minutes after the start, and sometimes even closer than that towards the end, to catch viewers before they go off and make a cup of coffee.
A typical hour on ITV is just 43 minutes of programme,, and that includes the opening and closing credits. _________________ Ron |

On the rare occasions when I want to see an ITV prog, I Sky+ it, and FF through the ads. I'm sure that many people do the same - what do the advertisers think about this? I have to say that I just do not watch ads at all. _________________ MiS |

ITV is absolutely dire, I understand they have axed Kingdom. This was not a program I watched myself but from what I can gather it was very popular.
Seems to me they just want ITV to be a reality channel, that's almost what it is now.
I watched Harry Hill's Tv burp last Saturday and was bloody irritated by the constant pop-up ads for the X Factor. It totally spoilt the program for me and I probably won't tune in again this week. |

Truth is, ITV have only the dreaded X Factor to rely on. It's popularity says nothing for the state of our nation's intellect _________________ MiS |

They might as well name it the advert channel and be done with it. |

The thing that bugs me is that they reckon they haven't enough budget for arts programmes, and then on GMTV you have Emma Crosby flying across to South Africa to witness how the poor viewers' money for the Born Free foundation helped the animals there! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
