Johnnie announced yesterday that he is to be sent out to the North sea on Sunday 27th December and will broadcast a 2 hour special pirate show at 3pm. Fantastic news, all those and I know there are a few who enjoy this show, please do as I am going to do and have and that is let Radio 2 know that this show should be made a regular feature on its station.

Something little special for the listeners, whilst he covers breakfast.

Am looking forward to him doing the breakfast it will really liven it up a bit. I just hope that in 2010 he gets more airtime. Radio 2 is a better place when he is on.

I went to see him recently when his 'world tour' came to Sheffield. I asked the question about where he sees things going in the future. Put it this way, regarding Radio 2, it didn't sound hopeful and he made it clear he would not be covering for Chris. However, he did say he had some things up his sleeve but that he's keeping his cards close to his chest.

I hope JW will be on somewhere that we can easily tune in to. It would be such a pity if he is on something only available on one of these DAB radio thingys! Preferably on Radio 2, but this doesn't sound too hopeful now.

What I can't understand is why a station would want to push out such a highly regarded and experienced broadcaster who not only knows his music but has lived it.

I saw him a couple of years ago at his one man shows (which are excellent) and one gent made it clear that he didnt care for the Drivetime change and he didnt like the new presenter and I asked the same question what does the future hold for JW. He said he wanted more and also that he saw himself doing new radio things but these never seem to have materialised. He was asked what he would change if he were put in charge of radio 2 and without any hesistation and with a touch of passion/emotion in his voice he said I would be back doing Drivetime. The fact the he will not be covering breakfast makes all these changes anger me more. Radio 2 bosses need replacing if they feel there can overlook the best presenter by a mile not just on radio 2 but any station. If he does come back on another station then good luck to him because it will certainly be their gain and Radio 2's loss. Whilst I like his Sunday show, its not real Johnnie in my book, he seems to be limited what he can do and say. I just wish they would put his Pirate show back on again on a regular basis.

Neither can I, it just doesn't make sense.
