There was a thread somewhere asking that radio 2 play more music from the fortees & fiftees. As i said before, its from before my era but i'd love to hear it & I'm sure many older listeners would, too.
Friday Evenings are great in this respect.
I would like to hear a bit more of the like. How about a Mellow Magic sort of slot featuring Ellat Fitzgerald, Louise Armstrong, Patsy Cline, Andrew sisters, TonY bennett et al?
Maybe 3pms Sundays?

Well the latest report from the Trust suggests we MIGHT see the R2 schedule playing more mature music, not sure about 3pm Sundays though, yes that WAS a popular time for easy listening up until 2007 when Russell Davies occupied the slot, but SOT70s is there now.

After Wogan exits the daytime mornings I hope the Trust can encourage Ken Bruce to gradually change his tracklists to create a more swing/vocal/non-pop programme mid-mornings?

Might Gary Bones have to be slightly re-educated in this respect.

After all, he seems as Bruce's producer, to have great input/influence into the music played on the mid morning show.

I don't listen to Ken Bruce very often but occasionally when working at home I will have his show on in the background and it does seen to me that very little adventure is taken with regard to the music played-the records played are very much geared to the current play list.

Why not scrap the play list completely. Would that not help to provide the diversity that some of the posters on here are looking for.

Indeed whilst I hate Steve Wright's show in the afternoon the bit of his show that I do really enjoy is the oldies-not a play list song in sight!

I agree totally with John and Mark about Gary Bones music choices.
I'm hoping the trust will force a change in the music to make it MUCH more varied.
Then again I was hoping Bob Shennan may have improved the music variety but if anything it has become even worse under his controllership (is that a word?)
I bet the majority of the regular listeners who filled out the trusts questionnaire wanted a greater variety of music played and an end to the dreaded "A" list of the playlist

Yes I'm sure you are right, and that seems to be likely what the trust was including in their findings.

"Control"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks John, I am feeling a bit tired tonight though, ha ha
Does anyone think the Trust review will make any difference?
I'm hoping it does but being a bit of a pessimist I can't help thinking that nothing will change, or they'll play 1 or 2 older records a week just to indicate that they are playing some older stuff
