Really pleased to see that the above is subjected to dedicated 3 hour exposure at 2pm each day in w/c 28/12 with the following interesting set of presenters

Monday-Tony Blackburn/Cilla Black

Tuesday-Noddy Holder/Kiki Dee

Wednesday-Chris Tarrant/Nick Kershaw

Thursday-Zoe Ball/Mel C

Friday Alan Carr/Nadine Coyle

Definitely worth tuning in for me thinks.

Anyone who says Alan Carr is "worth tuning in for" clearly has hearing problems. Why would you choose to inflict that on yourself?

I agree re Alan Carr. Noddy Holder, on the other hand, is great and I hope R2 will be able to use him more often. He sounds so enthusiastic and good humoured about it all.

Whatever for Mark? So far they have all been tunes we've heard far too many times already. When they are played on POTPs everyone moans they're overplayed and they crop up during the week days far too often.

The only people who would probably enjoy them are the lower end of the age group that Radio 2 insists should be included.

I'd rather have the normal schedule with guest presenters than another best of series.

Helen,

I couldn't agree more. Shows which we hear the same old songs all the time. Instead the station has put ( The Great British Songbook ) into a small box for a gap filler and got in well known people to present it.

Some interesting negative comments posted on this thread.

Have to agree that Monday's show was pants-probably because I can't abide 60's music.

However thought Noddy and Kiki delivered a very good 70's show today-some good music played (yes I do agree that some of the songs that were played are regularly played on Radio 2 but that was not a problem for me). I also like the information/trivia given out in the shows as well-quite often I think "well I never knew that-eg David Essex is quite a good drummer I believe was mentioned today" etc.

Looking forward to the remaining shows.

Well I guess some of the above comments are right but I'm really enjoying the two shows I've heard so far.

I haven't listened to them both all through but I thought it was great to hear Tony Blackburn on Radio 2.
I've always liked Tony. After all the years I've seen or heard him on the radio or TV, he always comes across as a decent fellow and good at his job too, unlike some of the presenters on 2 now.
Pity he's not on Radio 2 on a regular basis - maybe doing a show similar to Ed's on a Sunday.

The 70s show with Noddy is entertaining too and yes, I'd like to hear more of him during the week.

It's true most of the tracks have been played pretty often but for me at least, it's nice to have them all in one show with the banter and tales in between... bit like a 3 hour SOTS! ( or SOTS or SOTE! Laughing )

I love 60s music but there is so much of it around. Pirate Johnnie Walker, Suzi Quatro's (a lot of 60s in that) plus SOTs.

I think I'm getting fed up with single decade shows. I like a mix of them all.

I'd heard a lot of the tales before as well.

Really enjoyed the 80's show with Chris Tarrant and Nik Kershaw today.

Imho the best show so far in this series this week.

Tarrant would have been good having a full time show on the station if he wasn't committed to other projects. I did like the jingles too.

" Entertaining BBC RADIO2" I hope they continue to use them.

Tarrant would be awful having a full time slot! Thank God he's got other commitments. He didn't do himself any good at all today, the commentary was more irritating than the music. Evil or Very Mad
