Anyone bought anything amazing in the sales and got themselves a real bargain.

We bought 2 pieces of furniture earlier today-a mini wardrobe and a telephone table.

We saved supposedly about £300-do I really believe the store discounted these goods to the tune of £300-I am not so sure.

Not this year Mark, but last year we got a large wooden coffee table for £50 (should have been £140) and a dining table and six chairs for £250 (should have been £600). Both well used last year and this Christmas too! Laughing

I haven't been near the sales and wouldn't dream of doing so until they quieten down a bit.

Ian.

Should be safe to come out on Tuesday, when all the schools, and everyone else, are back at work.

I looked around the city centre shops yesterday, but nothing grabbed me. Clothes-wise I'm too "normal" - they have loads in midget and giant sizes (why do they always seem to over-cater for them?) but not much happy medium.

(I was amused to see that Argyle pattern jumpers seem to be back in fashion. I used to love those in the 80s, and always got ribbed about being 30 years behind the times! Smile )

Furniture, electricals and technology stuff is heavily discounted all year - permanent Sales - and most of what there's left are what nobody wanted before Christmas. My hints fell on deaf ears this year and I've just bought myself a pair of hifi headphones (the old ones are 20 years old and have served me well) but they weren't a real sale bargain.

Lakeland has quite a lot of its Christmas gifts, gadgets and table cloths/paper napkins reduced by up to two-thirds.

Not Christmassy, but I bought one of those energy saving socket adapters which was half price, and a new non-stick heavy-duty aluminium roasting dish/griddle pan, ditto.

I haven't bought anything in the sales.. in fact I probably slipped up by buying a new Home Cinema Centre before Christmas from Comet. I'll bet it'll be on offer now!
I think the best bargain reduction I ever bought was last year from Harveys the furniture people.. I took a fancy to a lounge set - two bow fronted sideboard units with display cabinets above and a matching TV unit finished in a really high gloss Maple and black.. a little Deco in design.
But, at over £3,000 it was overpriced ( and not worth it )
Last year it was on offer for £1,700 and caught my eye again but still too much.. as I was talking to the salesman, the Manager said I could take it away for £500 - if it was collected that day.
A quick trip in the truck and a screw driver later, it was at my place! a real bargain.
