The end of the year wouldn't be complete without (yet another) survey.
Premier Foods, in the guise of its Batchelor's Cup-a-Soup brand, asked 3,000 people to name their greatest pleasure in life.
Curling up in bed after a long day and waking completely refreshed in the morning came top of the poll.
Most responses were quite simple little pleasures, from making someone smile to popping bubble-wrap. The top fifty:-
1.A good night's sleep
2.Finding a forgotten tenner in your pocket
3.Cuddling up with a partner in bed
4.Crying with laughter
5.Having a lie-in
6.Sleeping in newly laundered bedding
7.Getting a bargain
8.Making someone smile
9.Catching up with an old friend
10.Laughing at things that have happened in the past
11.Eating a Sunday roast with your family
12.Someone saying you look nice
13.Curling up on the sofa with a good book and a hot drink or soup
14.Discovering you've lost a few pounds
15.Breakfast in bed
16.Waking up thinking it's a work day and then realising it's the weekend
17.A random person smiling at you in the street
18.Looking through old photo albums
19.Eating a takeaway
20.First snow fall of the year
21.Singing your heart out to your favourite song in car
22.Having lunch with friends
23.Listening to a baby laughing
24.Having a massage
25.Reading a book or listening to your iPod on holiday by the pool
26.Playing in snow
27.Finding a pair of jeans that fit perfectly
28.Being chatted up
29.A girly-night in
30.A pampering session at home
31.The smell of freshly cut grass
32.Sitting in the pub with your friends
33.Looking at a baby asleep in a cot
34.Waking up in a room with an amazing view
35.Clothes shopping
36.Receiving a letter from a friend
37.Fitting into an old pair of jeans again after losing some weight
38.Staying up all night getting to know someone special
39.Your mum's cooking
40.Getting dressed up for a night out
41.Watching a live band
42.Drinking a cold beer after work
43.Browsing in a secondhand book shop
44.Going to the cinema
45.Getting a new hairstyle
46.Your queue being the quickest in the supermarket
47.The cold side of the pillow
48.Watching a DVD
49.Getting tipsy
50.Popping bubble wrap
Can't argue with most of that. Don't know about the girly night in, though.
I only once got tipsy. Like a lot of things I've only done once, I didn't like it.
And freshly mown grass makes me sneeze - I'd substitute the smell of freshly baked bread and cakes for that.
One to add - Cream tea, on holiday: freshly baked fruit scones, Devon/Cornish clotted cream, jam on half of them, a pot of tea with at least two bags in it. (I'm partial to cheese and treacle scones as well, but the cream and jam are just a bit OTT with those)
What's your favourite? Or have you one that isn't listed?

No 2) Never found that much in my pocket that I forgot about!!
No 14) I suppose it depends on whether we are talking £s or lbs!!
No 16) I usually curse my stupidity if I've forgotten to switch off my alarm clock when the next day is my day off!!
No 20) When I was a kid that might have been true. Certainly not in adulthood! Likewise No 26!
No 28 ) Put me down for it!!!
No 32) There's one I can agree with!
No 35) Maybe if you're a woman! To me 'retail therapy' is an oxymoron!
No 41) Definitely. Most recently for me The Hamsters at Farnham Maltings. Before them it was The Unthanks at Aldershot's West end centre and prior to them it was Aynsley Lister also at West end centre. All very enjoyable gigs.
No 42) An after work beer is is indeed very enjoyable, especially if you've had a bad day at work, though it doesn't necessarily have to be cold, unless it happens to have been a hot sunny day.
No 46) How often does that happen?
No 49) When did I lasht get tipshy? I don't remember it!!
No 50) I'll agree with that too http://www.virtual-bubblewrap.com/pop _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

Most of those are ok but this would be my top five.
1. Holding hands.
2. Having someone to meet me off the train.
3. Being lost in the eyes of passion.
4. Sharing a bag of chips on a freezing cold seafront.
5. The smell of frying bacon.

A great little pleasure today, this afternoon I made FIRST-EVER snowman for our grand-daughter (15 months now).
I made him same height as her, red grapes for eyes, a baby sweetcorn for nose, raisins for teeth/mouth, raisins for his buttons. An old cap on his head.
She was terrified of him! Wouldn't go near him! I may have damaged her for life! _________________ -
