We were talking about this tonight, at a personal level, with interesting results. For us, after a lot of sorting the wheat from the chaff, elderly relatives took centre stage, with the death of my Mother and the continued ill health of my Father in law representing 2 of the lower points.

The higher points were harder to pin-point, mostly because we have enjoyed the greater part of the year, but we did identify a few brighter than bright

And then we took a broader view, encompassing word events in the last 12 months. The jury is still out on this...

Anyone care to take either the personal or broader review on 2009?

On a personal leve, my mums health has been to the fore. But she is now doing much better we are in a much happier situation.

Otherwise things have been OK.

On the political front, I was sad to see the inevitable & Tony Blair resign as PM (or was that last year??). He was a truly great leader.
Internationally i was sad to see Ms Livni not elected PM in Israel. A great woman. I was also sad to see no leadership whatsoever on the palestinian side.

Internationally, it was amusing seeing the troubles of President Bonkers in Iran slightly worrying witnessing their steady development of nuclear weapons the USA without a clue on how to deal with it.

On a lighter note, it was funny watching a clown, Hugo "El Loco" Chavez, being "Presidente" of the formerly democratic country of Venezuela

This can get personal!

Low points: Steve Hackett and Kim Poor's divorce, the death of Eric Woolfson (Alan Parsons Project), SPV (distributor of the Inside Out record label) going into receivership along with Borders. Oh, and a boss of mine whose indecision is final, saying 'We'd love to have you (employed here) BUT...' in an e-mail.

High points: getting a new laptop to replace my old PC, Steve Hackett finally releasing 'Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth' after much litigation, Comedy Central and More4 screening decent programmes that aren't all murder miseries and period drama. And the new Anthony Phillips release, 'Pathways & Promenades'.

High points: Birth of granddaughter and making one or two good new friends, as well as rediscovering some old ones.

Low point: Health problems on and off for much of the year.

How about you?

Ian.

High point - making some good friends on Islay back in August, who have invited me back to the island this year.

Low point - suffering with the swine flu through practically most of December (it managed to clear up by Christmas Day, though, so not all bad).

High point .. a cup of coffee like no other.

Low point .. being sued ( not successfully) by a rather fat lady because she didn’t lose any weight on my Yoga course. It was of course, the course of Doughnuts she also had undertaken to consume at every opportunity.... and I'd never claimed that she would lose weight... that isn't what yoga is for.

Next thing she'll be joining Weightwatchers in order to experience inner spiritual well-being. And that won't work either Crying or Very sad

She did, MiS ... yep. I had a letter from a Solicitor. However, when I phoned her Solicitor and pointed out that the course was free and that she'd turned up for just over half of the sessions, and still hadn't returned the equipment that I'd loaned to her ( yoga mat, blocks etc) it all went very quiet. Still haven't got my mat and blocks back. Evil or Very Mad

Weight Watchers - money watchers more like. Their soups resemble the contents of a toilet bowl and taste about the same.
