The show is going out live on Valentines Day and hosted by Russell Brand.

Will it have a 10 second delay??

All the usual suspects. I find it hard to work up much interest.

This is daft - I'm sure Radio 2 listeners are less likely to go to live gigs than Radio 1 or ILR listeners. R2 listeners should vote for Best Single since all of the nominees have been on non-stop play all year!

It is broadcast the day after the show normally isn't it? Is it live this year? Evans used to present it up to this year didnt he?

Evans has done it twice, but this year it's Brand - and yes it will be broadcast live!

I take it there should be a choice for the Outstanding contribution to music thing (mark's just had oasis) hmm - if I could chose, it would be Stuart Maconie ( Rolling Eyes is it that obvious I'm an SM fan? Wink

No, the Outstanding Contribution award was announced ages ago - when Oasis brought their Greatest Hits album out, in fact. What a coincidence! Wink

You'll get no argument from me on the CBR v LA score. LA *will* get it as she's being peddled like mad, but CBR deserves it on sheer talent and in the end, probably longevity. She's certainly on my Amazon wish-list - needless to say Keith's daughter isn't.

interesting - I see it as the other way round - I think CBR will get the awards but I would rather and I think she deserves them more ... Lily Allen - I love her songs- she's fantastic Smile

TBH I couldn't care less about the Brits - there's only one reason why they exist and thats to try and shift a few extra records. Look at the timing - just after Christmas when there are very few big names releasing new material and the market is more or less dead.

quite true - I'm not bothered myself - was just choosing ones if I had to.. it;s a bit daft though when CBR is up for all those award and she only had 1 hit song (the other one wasn;t so well received and she's had no others) - and I mean Jarvis Cocker's album's only jsut come out!
bit daft I agree
but we're getting into the season of award ceremonies Sad

At least its not as bad as during the 90s when you had a real job finding nominations in some categories. I think there was one time when Kate Bush was nominated for Best British Female despite not having actually released anything for about 3 years.

They should drag Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood out to compare it again to add some entertainment to the proceedings.... Laughing

There are SO many quality musicians that deserve the Outstanding achievement ( or as Eric Clapton called it 'The dinosaur award')

Amy Winehouse is the only one out of that lot who i think is good!
Excellent singer, Back to Black among my favourite albums of 2006
The Kooks must rank as one of the most pointless bands ever. all their pathetic post-New wave vocal posturing & cliches. They have about as much to offer music as Rolf Harris!

I kind of liked New Wave about 30 years ago. But today that sound is a bit cliched, or at least it is to me. Just not to my taste really. There were guys doing what the Kooks are doing today in the '70s

as I wasn't aound to aapreciate the 70s - this repetition doesn't bother me - the Kooks aren't my fav, a bit unforgettable I agree and don't get me started on that accent of theirs... Wink
I would say new wave was more franz ferdinand

I think their "accent" is one of the thing that bothers me about them. Whatever it is supposed to be, it is fake!
Isn't it a bit odd that the Brits are unable to broadcast live?
All US Awards shows go out live, & they are great glitsy affairs. The Brits is just a little thing, but still they can't make it live!

didn't know either of those things - I thought they just had the misfortune to grow up with that terrible accent (Oy, neo - I know)
and also didn't know the Brits wasn't live - doesn't bother me much though - never watched it anyway
