Thud!

MM has just fainted with delight Laughing

Let's face it, who wouldn't look good when compared to Evans? When will the BBC get it into theit thick skulls that most of us don't want to be shouted at in the Mornings, or have ludicrous "slots"? We want good music, gentle banter and a modicum of intelligence. That's all!

A Radio 2 spokesman said: 'We're extremely happy with Chris's breakfast show and are pleased that listeners are enjoying Richard Allinson while he sits in for Chris this week.'

I'm glad that they are pleased, pity that a lot of the listeners aren't!

Not just happy with Chris Evans, you notice, but 'extremely' happy. No, they simply can't see any problem at all. Makes you wonder what sort of listeners they themselves are, doesn't it ?

A lot of feeback which the mail are using are from the Radio 2 message boards, etc. Although it's good positve feedback. It will put a little downer on the BBC and Chris is he reads this. I'm sure this will happen when Richard does cover shows, because he has a good following on the station.

There are reasons behind Chris Evans appointment to breakfast. There are reasons why Richard wasn't offered a primetime slot. The only people who know this are the bosses at Radio 2, and the men themselves. I hope he continues to cover for breakfast?

Interesting that rumours are starting about Terry returning. While I think it's unlikely, it's not the first I've heard of it.

Rolling Eyes Trust the Mirror to put it on the Sports pages and quote odds.

Twisted Evil So, we can see what the Mail's journalists do all day - read internet message boards

Evil or Very Mad And I'm especially tee'd off with the Telegraph, which seems these days to be simply lifting an increasing amount of its stories from the Mail.

If the Telegraph really is using the Daily Wail for it's stories, things have come to a pretty pass - The former used to be a good paper.

The Mail is the most-visited online paper, a position the Telegraph want to be in. So the Telegraph scour the internet seeing what's popular (eg most read on other newspapers, or top Google searches) and put it on their own site to try and divert traffic.

I like looking at photos of people playing chess, to see if they've got the board the right way round.

I might start buying it on a regular basis.

Keep up the good work guys!

Not so long ago if Richard A got the cover job for Terry, everybody would be moaning that it should've been Johnnie that got it.
Now all of a sudden Richard A is some sort of Messiah, I find it all a bit pitiful really.
A little while ago it was Steve Wright who was the hate figure, then it all turned onto Jonathon Ross, then Sarah Kennedy, now it's Chris turn, who will it be next?
I also find it a bit irritating when people imply that you're some sort of imbecile if you listen to Chris Evans,
I take offence to that, and I take offence on behalf of my work colleagues too, who all enjoy the show.
I've enjoyed Radio 2 since I was 16 and am now 42 and I don't like the way the station has gone musically at all, which I think is a much more important issue than whether you like someone or not.
At least there's a touch more variety on Chris show and he puts a bit more effort into it rather than just taking money for reading out emails.

I don't really see the 'variety' of evans show as he uses the same dialogue to link the same naff, tired sounding features day after day.

Yeah, he does put in a lot of effort, too much for my liking and mainly from the voice box.

You can't get rid of a problem Radio 2 have made. Radio 2 put Chris in that position, because he wanted to achieve something. He lost he footing at the first hurdle, but instead of drinking it up the wall, and wasting his career, he decided to take time out. Richard Allinson will always prove popular which ever shows he covers or does, because he appeals to Radio 2 audience. Richard was big hit at Capital Radio and always stood out. He's not made himself big, as he's doing a job he enjoys. The listeners have done this. Unfortunatly everyone dwells on the past mistakes of Evans, and he will not listen. The reason he won't listen, because it all stops at the controllers door, who has the final word. Yes he will continue. Every high profile person has there critics. Some of more than others.

Mark,

There is no problem. Well, no more of a problem than when the anti-Evans brigade were up in arms at his appointment to the Breakfast Show. Whoever stood in for Chris this week would have received the same faux-adulation from the anti-Evans protestors; I can just see it now… “Tim Smith is so much better than Chris Evans” or perhaps “ Pete Mitchell is errrrr…a breath of fresh air in the errrrr mornings – it’s ten to errr eight”, or maybe “Dermot O’Leary – what a refreshing change to wake up with him” or “ KATE THORNTON IS SUCH A SWEET GIRL WHY CAN’T WE HAVE HER INSTEAD OF EVANS”
Chris hasn’t lost his footing, he’s having a week off for whatever reason – it could be anything from nappy-rash to galloping hair-loss or perhaps that he just fancied a week off. It’s no biggy! Yes his new show is a bit too busy but that can and will be blended out over the next few months- you have to try things to find out if they work- no great radio show was ever made without a bold sense of adventure.

The R2 message-board at the moment is exactly as it was described by Jonathan Ross; about eight people posting the same nonsense over and over and over again. I’m so looking forward to the twenty or thirty threads tomorrow about the Richard Allinson Day 5 Campaign. Oh joy!

Of course, I did predict exactly this in the rating wars stories......broadcasting black-hole anyone?

Rachel, that is utter rot! There is no way that the "Anti-Evans brigade" would be applauding Dermot or Pete, and as for Kate Thornton - well, less said the better! The truth is that Richard A really is a breath of fresh air compared to the ghastly stench that has been in evidence since Jan 11.

You obviously believe there is "no problem" - let's just agree to differ, big style!

I don't think what Evans is doing with breakfast is a bold sense of adventure. A bold lesson in alienating a large audience and offering very little different to so many other stations.

Also, I'd hardly say Wogan's breakfast show was made with a bold sense of adventure, but what it offered was something different, something special. I don't get that feeling with Breakfast 2010.

Lesley Douglas used to have Richard covering for Wogan when she was in charge, he did have a big impact then, but for some apparently reason he never covered breakfast after that stint, except bank holidays. Whether he didn't want it or had other committments we never knew. Jonathan Ross had a bash at covering breakfast, but that was stopped after a few times. Johnnie Walker started to cover as the station was trying to match like for like. I hope this cover which Richard was doing isn't a shot in the dark, because he's very good Radio 2 won't get him to cover anymore.

They seem to like building peoples hopes up. They are scared of there own shadow.
