I sat down and watched this film last night.

For someone who is Eighty or so I thought Clint Eastwood gave a great acting performance in this film.

I thought the ending was incredibly sad though.

Yes, and excellent film. Shame the ending is downbeat as it's pretty much Alf Garnet in America until then!

The only bad note (literally) is Jamie Cullum's caterwauling over the end credits.
