Interesting to note that they don't mention the fact that Lynn Parsons is losing her show!

http://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.5716

But she will remain at Radio 2 for cover work.

All the hype about the Saturday and Sunday over night shows seems like a distant memory. Emma Forbes left. Lynn Parsons came in with a new feature, the book club, now she's been dropped.

Maybe it wasn't popular with listeners? I wouldn't know as I'm not usually awake at that time on a Sunday. Wink

Well I'm very sorry about this. Aled Jones does nothing for me, I usually listen to Lynn Parsons and then switch stations while I'm getting ready for work. It seems like I will soon have nothing left. Crying or Very sad

I wonder if three hours of GMS might be too much of a good thing.

Actually I'd agree with you Ian, 3 hours is a long show especially when it has a religious theme (I'm not anti religion, but I'm sure you get my drift). I suppose it depends what they are going to do with the 'spare' hour?

I think 3 hours is a bit too BBC Local Radio style programming for me... and the Sunday Breakfast show will be longer than the main weekday one Neutral

I don't see the logic in that (although I do prefer Aled to Chris).

Yes, I wondered about the spare hour too. I suppose they might take an hour off someone else and then shunt everyone about to fit in another celebrity!

Does it have a religious theme ?. I thought most of it was promoting new records etc and mentioning religion now and again Rolling Eyes

3hrs of most shows is too much.

3 hours at a time of listening live to Richard Allinson is just fine by me-4 hours on a Sunday morning would be even better though. Very Happy

I'm not happy about Lynn Parsons being dropped. I enjoyed her Book Club feature even though a lot of people near me would rather bitch about some Z-list celebrity's dress on a Sunday morning.

Three hours of GMS is too much. Maybe the DG should have sent us all free razor blades in the post. The piece on the McCanns really said 'Happy Mother's Day', I don't think. As if several hours of Formula 1 on the box wasn't enough.

I'm inclined to send the DG down here for what he's proposed for 6 music (interestingly they don't like this on the 6 music MBs!) and for dropping Lynn Parsons' (ex Emma Forbes) Sunday show. Why can't Lynn have her own show? Why is she only allowed to deputise for others? http://www.pictogame.com/en/play/game/RWfcZ79KRr0S_devil-kick-2

So Bob is pushed another hour out of joint - why does Radio 2 insist on sidelining genius?

Rediculous. Gambo should be on at 6PM on a Saturday & Whispering Bob at 8PM.
In the same way that Suzi Quatro was put on a graveyard shift then eased out, are there similar plans for the Old grey whistling one?? What on earth is the current R2 controller on??

It's madness having the best people on so late.

Is one of the '10 commandments' of radio 'Thou shalt not hear good/new music presented by a good DJ at a reasonable hour'?

By the way - Bob Harris just posted on twitter that he is presenting a 6 part series on adult oriented rock in April.
