In the past ninety minutes, I've dived into this show three times. Pretty toe-curling stuff. I find him a bit of an embarrassment to listen to, I'm afraid.

I've been listening to this today: http://1075.timefm.com/?go=home Not the regular presenter as today is a bank holiday. Today's presenter can usually be heard on Sunday breakfast & mornings. Worth a listen.

I heard the segment yesterday (Monday) when he interviewed David Baddiel about his new film. He did a good job, I thought, and kept the conversation moving nicely. That was all I listened to though.

I enjoy Richard Madely's shows on Radio 2 - he doesn't shout, and he sounds "at home" in a radio studio!

I heard a bit of it but couldn't bear the money woman with the awful Middlesbrough accent............so turned it down unless there was music.

Why can't they employ folk who can speak properly? Evil or Very Mad Sorry but I dislike most regional accents on radio.

I like hearing local/regional accents on local radio stations - such as down in my old neck o' the woods which is Devon and Cornwall. It wouldn't be right without them. However, some regional accents do sound odd on popular peak-time network factual programmes. Sometimes you wonder whether the use of presenters with very strong dialects is merely an act of tokenism.

I like what we generally refer to as "Geordie" accents, though, Helen!! Smile

Actually it may not be the accents as much as the way the person speaks. Can't remember the female's name but hers isn't a pleasant voice IMHO.

There are accents and accents. For instance Ken Bruce's is lovely but the guy on SkY Sports news (blond/white hair) with I think a Glasgow accent just grates on me. Same with the BBC N I correspondent who was over here until recently.

My Geordie accent has almost gone. Wink

As has my south-west Devon/east Cornwall accent (after 33 years exile).

Helen-Your post re accents caught my eye.

As a London East End born boy, I find the accent for the guy on Sky Sports news you refer to absolutely fine, however Ken Bruce's accent really grinds/grates with me.

Have to say though the Geordie accent is my favourite to my ear from the UK.

I don't like the Brummie accent that much though.

It's funny what "our ears like" re various accents.
