I heard Richard saying after playing Glen Cambell - Wichita Lineman this isn't Steve Wright show, but it may not be on Monday as he's stuck in America with no flights back home. If this is true. I wonder if they could do a link up with him from a Radio station in america?

Oops just posted this "news" on another thread. Obviously Lulu's SLS was recorded several days ago she has just dedicated a record to someone whose family is arriving at Gatwick today (oh no they aren't). Incidentally, who was with Alan Carr yesterday evening? Seems that Emma Forbes is also stuck, in her case, in Barbados. I can think of worse places.

Wasn't Lulu supposed to cover Sunday Love Songs? She's listed in the Sunday Times paper schedule in the Culture supplement which is printed in advance. Haven't checked my RT.

Yes Helen, I think SW said last week that Lulu would be presenting SLS this Sunday.

Yes, today's Steve Wright's Sunday Love Songs contained neither Steve Wright nor many Love Songs. Can something be done about this?

Steve Wright could be stuck in the US for some time-the long term weather forecast shows no change in the situation over the UK re the raging volcano in Iceland.

I believe it was Gaby Roslyn. She does shrieking and sycophancy just as well as Emma Forbes and has stood in before I believe.

How about those presenters who have made extreme efforts to return to the UK to get on-air.

LBC's Simon Calder was on holiday in Norway and made his way back home by getting on a transport ship to Hull for today's Travel Clinic show.

Jo Good on 6 Music was due to stand in for Chris Hawkins as he was going on holiday in Malaga, but she's stuck in Africa and Vicky Blight is standing in for her.

Yes, I thought of Rose Blight in Private Eye when I heard the name!

I've just been listening to Richard on my drive back from Devon. And most enjoyable it has been too!

Hardly I'd agree, but the radio listings appear in that part of the paper!

Blessed relief from Wrighty's oversized ego today (does he have to buy an extra ticket for it if he gets on a plane? Wink ) but unfortunately that silly astrologer woman managed to get on the phone from the USA so the show wasn't entirely twaddle-free.

So if Moyles can broadcast from Sirus Radio in New York from Tuesday for his Radio 1 shows, and Steve Wright is there, why couldn't he broadcast his shows? It's a shame as he could have organised some amercian artists. Not saying I'am not enjoying Richard Allinson, just was an idea.

Maybe they don't have the budget. Anyhow, if Allinson is the cheaper option that's fine by me.

If I remember correctly Radio 1 goes out (or did) on the Sirius network but I don't think Radio 2 does. Maybe that's why he's doing it from there.

And besides, Moyles didn't do his show this morning - Scott Mills stood in.

Because, quite simply, Chris Moyles can do a show live and Steve Wright can't. I can't imagine Sirius being too keen to lend Steve their studios and DAT machines every day for weeks.

They'd have to block-book DAT machines out of the New York Radio Museum, for a start!!! Smile

Chris Moyles was on his own on Sirus Radio, and sounded like he's in London. The rest were in the studio in London playing out the jingles and music. I guess Tim, Janey and the old women could be in London. I just wonder why they can't get them to route the ISDN - to Western House through his usual processing? Some suggestions are using the bbc studios in New York. If it gets desperate measures, and SW can't be back on air in London by next Monday, he may well have to do this?

Stuck at home sick (you don't want to know). At least RA is here instead of the shreiking Essex Boy.

How come RA can do the show perfectly well on his own but ego boy hasn't got a clue without his prehistoric posse.

Mind you, who was today's first guest. A voice so dopey it almost gave me a relapse

Mark the situation isn't desperate! It's not the end of the world for Steve to have an extra week off, the show will still be there for him when he does return.

Heard the start and the last hour of Richard today, it was good. Loved the cheeky banter between him and Sally on the first travel news. Took me back to the days of the Johnnie and Sally banter on Drivetime!

Interesting interview with David Yelland(?) as well.

Guess it must have been. Being old and decrepit and not a follower of modern culture at all I hadn't a clue who she was or why she was there.

Mind you, I agree with Helen. The interview with David Yelland was top notch. Courageous and revealing (and I never thought I would ever I would ever say anything remotely pleasant about a tabloid editor.

Mark, it's nothing to do with the technology- it would be easy to get SW on air from NY but it would take nothing short of a volcano to get him out of bed before 9am on a weekday... they are 5 hours behind you know... Smile
