I hate remakes of classic TV series. I'll rest with my memory of the original series.

Although the trailers do look good. Ian McKellen will play a good part.

Sadly the reviews following it's airing in the USA have been poor to say the least.

Still will still tune it when its aired on ITV shortly.

Trailers always look good. That's what they're designed to do.

I'm surprised Richard Allinson and Andrew Collins (this last constantly in for absent presenters on 6 Music)weren't auditioned for the role of Number Two!

Well did anyone watch this last night.

We did.

My wife hated it-"what a load of old rubbish" was her comments etc.

Myself-a bit disappointing if I'm honest-still I'm glad I watched it etc.

Hmmm, a little disappointed, it's over-Americanised.

Still the next episode might be completely different, as would happen in the original series.

The original had a different No 2 just about every episode, what is the plan for this series?

I expect there's a useful website somewhere?

Well, I was amazed.. I mean, when did you last see one Renault Dauphine.. let alone two! Shocked plus a brace of Morris Minors, a Thames Doormobile and... a Wartburg... convertible! how strange..

as for the show, I thought it very mediocre.. might get better but like many US series for me, it probably won't.
Good to see "Rover" the weather balloon make an appearance at the end and I wonder what the ghostly image of what looked like the Twin Towers has to do with things?

From the end credits it looks like it was made in South Africa which would explain the old cars.

Like The Avengers, makes you realise just how good the original was though doesn't it?

I suppose my expectations were so low I was actually quite surprised. The twin towers bit is quite intriguing and, like SFF, I was pleased to see Rover appear. McKellan is good but Jim Cavaziel (sp?) is pretty wooden. Then again, Dear old Pat McGoohan wasn't exactly Shakespearian. Had to wait a long time for the "I am not a number...."

Compared to the usual toilet that the Americans make of classic British TV - not just the Avengers but The Saint and the truly awful Thunderbirds - this was a better effort

Ian McKellen's white suit reminded me of the Man From Del Monte!

He had what seemed to be a toy boy in his room, which made me think 'The Man From Del Monte - he say YES! YES! YES!'

Didn't like the constant operatic wailing on the soundtrack - it felt like Number Two had the Go Compare man in the closet.

Well, episode 2 wasn't bad, keeping to the puzzling stories, flashbacks and weekly escape attempts, so keeping in line with the original series. Love the cars and buses!

Hope we get a change of No 2 soon, I used to enjoy a new No 2 every week, all fine actors in their day.

It's a bit dull and turgid. Interesting enough but I miss McGoohan thumping people Wink

Half way there so I'll stick with it

I stuck with the series until the end. Not a cheerful series by any means but still a good ending.

Will by the DVD box set shortly once the price drops a few pounds.

I stuck with it until the end. Wasn't too bad although I preferred Ashes to Ashes ending.

Somehow I don't think they will be talking about this in forty years time, as they are with the original.

I'll stick with my original box set! Very Happy

I'm glad I found something more useful to do with my time, in that case!

I'm still catching up with Ashes to Ashes with the last two episodes to go and loving every minute of it..
The list of "The Prisoner" recordings on my V box doesn't look quite so enticing however.. the first couple of shows I saw didn't work for me.
Maybe I'll just erase them as I did the US versions of Life on Mars and The Office.

I gave up on it early on.

I have a VHS video set of the McGoohan series which I recorded off Channel 4 probably 15 years ago Smile
