Yes, but you posted about it this morning Mark. I thought he must have broadcast more of it this morning from that.

I record the show and listen to it while I'm ironing on a Saturday afternoon. It's almost the same as it used to be when he was live then.

As Sandra said with the time I presumed you meant today's show. I don't get the chance to listen to RA these days.

Interesting to hear/note that Richard is going to change the format of this weekend's coming show to the following

Saturday morning-3 hours dedicated to The Great British Songbook

Sunday morning-3 hours dedicated to the Big Chill Out.

NB-Hope the 3.46 club is still going to open.

Have to say it was absolutely fantastic to hear the superb/brilliant track Merry Christmas Mr Laurence from Ryuichi Sakamoto in last Sunday's show.

Truly wonderful.

I tune in when I wake up and can't get back to sleep, which happens most nights. I will be tuning in to Allinson's Albums for certain though!

No, and Yes.

If I wake up at that hour any day of the week I do turn the radio on; interestingly Richard gets me back off to sleep far quicker than Alex.

I do like the fairly new feature Richard has on his Saturday morning show-Headbangers Heaven.

The stories told bring back great memories-I'm sure this feature could be turned into a show in its own right.

Good work Mr Allinson.

Richard is certainly not afraid of hard work-double shifts and alike.

I also think he really enjoys his weekend shows so would be reluctant to let others cover for him unless it was absolutely necessary etc.

I listened in to the last half hour while getting ready to go to work this morning. I'll be listening to Allinson's Albums on BBC York tomorrow though, assuming its still on. Smile

Did anyone catch Richard talking on one of his shows recently how Radio 2 DJ's/presenters go about "retrieving" the more obscure songs from the "BBC vault" as he called it.

From his comments it seems he has been spending some time down deep in the vaults having a "noise around".

He has mentioned a few times recently he is going to play some "old gems" he has come across over the coming weeks etc.

There must be loads of good stuff in the vaults, and some has been released in the past eg John Peel sessions, but I get the impression the BBC is only releasing some of it for sale to record companies and not playing it on air. Rolling Eyes

Am a bit late regarding this.

Richard has been presenting these weekend shows on Radio 2 for 1 year now (June 6th to be precise) so Happy (belated) Birthday. Lets hope Richard continues presenting these for many years to come. Very Happy

Quite correct-it was a Nicki somebody I believe-never heard of her before.

Wasn't able to listen live this weekend (I have been working offshore this past week and only returned home at lunchtime today).

Did she explain Richard's absence or did he do that on his Friday night/Saturday morning show.

Didn't hear the Saturday one as I didn't have to go to work so don't know who presented that show and only caught the end of Sunday's as I woke up earlier than I'd have liked!!

TH says she has already left the Asian Network, so what difference will the closure of the station make to her other appearances?

Nihal from the Asian Network had been a guest on The Wright Stuff previously - he really got on his high horse about being a parent after Matthew Wright joked about too many kids on the planet!

I was expecting him to have it out with Wright in the ad break!

I do like the relatively new feature Richard has brought to the weekend shows-"Just the 2 of us"-the first song at your wedding-some really funny stories told during this feature.

I think it great that Richard freshens up his shows every now again with new features etc.

Perhaps Mr Wright could take a leaf out of Richard's book.

There are many features Steve does on SLS which are similar to Richard "just the 2 of us".

Mark O-I doubt many of the folk tuning into Richard Allinson's weekend shows actually tune into Steve Wrights Sunday Love Songs Show-Steve's Sunday show is not really high quality/must listen to radio for a lot of folk including myself.

Especially when the very fine broadcaster that is David Jensen is presenting "Another Dimension" (a very good music show) over on Planet Rock.

If, like me, you think SLS is a complete wishy-washy pants of a radio show, it's the much better alternative!
