I saw Rod Stewart at the Birmingham NIA last Saturday and he certainly can cut it still. That said, I didn't understand the sarcastic reference to Mick Hucknall that he made during the gig in which he said something like "Here's a couple of Faces songs - and neither of them sung by Mick Hucknall". I do know!
What a daft idea. The Faces were a fantastic rock band - but this "new" line-up is nothing but a mockery. |

The article says McLagan will be in the line up..
Hope we will get to see some of the session on TV.. it'll be interesting.
Pity Rod doesn't join in, I mean, it wouldn't hurt him would it? I'd like to think the older these people get, the less important it all is and after all, the fans made him what he is today so why not please them?
Don't know much about Hucknell, only what I've heard on the TV and radio but I do remember him on a TFI Friday once where Evans "made" him stand up and sing during his interview and it was amazing! he really has (had?) a good voice!
Having said that, I don't really think he fits in with the Faces image.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

So it does. How did I miss that?
At the moment I just can't imagine that the Faces with Hucknall could be much cop. He's absolutely fine doing what he does - he can sing better in his sleep (and looked as though he was when I saw him) than most, just can't reconcile him with the Faces. _________________ Ron |

I'm sure that Rod Stewart would have jumped at the chance to jam with his old mates. He is in the middle of a big tour at the moment, don't forget. |

I like Mick Hucknall and I think he has a fantastic voice, however I don't think it is suited to this kind of stuff. Stay with me may be OK but other than that I'm not sure.
Ronnie Wood looks like he's been dead a fortnight |

There's only one singer of "Stay With Me", and it's the bloke who sang it in front of a very fine band last Saturday. The notion of Mick Hucknall fronting "Stay With Me" is a bit like asking Katherine Jenkins to sing "Anarchy In The UK"! |

I'd love to hear that! Talking about alternative takes on Sex Pistols tracks, I heard one this week. I've been trying to locate which show I heard it on. I'm sure it was on Mike Harding's folk show. I think it was by Ukelele Orchestra of GB. Very different. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I like the way unusual things crop up on these links... I've just watched the performance of "Going up the Country" (Canned Heat) by "Kitty, Daisy & Lewis" several times. Fascinating stuff - such an intense singer! Love it!
I'll have to look them up on Google. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Or the other way around, asking Mr Rotten to sing Ave Maria
Having just had the misfortune to come across a clip on you tube of Huckers singing 'Stay with me' I concur with you, his voice is the wrong pitch.
He should stick to soul, that is what he is good at. |

I'd quite like to hear that, actually!
Oh, and "McFly". There. Somebody had to do it! |
