Sarah has been told to cut the talk between her and Lynn. This is why Lynn is now reading the traffic news after the 6.30am News.

Yes Mark, we knew this on Monday. I know the BBC want her to walk, but I don't know why SK puts up with their petty dictation. Why shouldn't her and Lynn have a bit of banter? If they issued the same edict to Evans and Ken, there'd be a lot of gaps to fill!

When is Evans going to be told to talk less? I thought not Rolling Eyes

I’m not sure that it’s a good idea for the travel presenters to interact with any of the show hosts beyond a polite hello or good morning, perhaps. All this forced jovial interaction is synonymous with having a high powered, life and death meeting in a boardroom, then the tea lady comes in, and the Chairman of the meeting says to the tea lady; well what do think we should do about this crisis?…. I don’t know dear, one lump or two?

It’s travel news not chit chat in the queue at the post office. Either it's important or get rid of all together.

Like the traffic news at the weekend, on the hour after the news, so you can plan listening.

I quite agree with you about this. It's a pathetic game Radio 2 are playing. I've emailed Mr Shennan regarding a few things, and have mentioned this. I doubt I get a reply.

Sarah does enjoy the early mornings, unless she does something drastically wrong I can't see the BBC sacking her. At the end of the day some in Radio2 towers don't want her around anymore.

May I ask why you state this? I can find no evidence of the BBC wanting Sarah Kennedy to walk. However, I do find it somewhat bizarre that she has been instructed not to interact with the news and travel presenters.

Perhaps the Radio 2 Management feel that Sarah spends too much time talking?

In which case, why haven't I been reading that the foghorn who follows on from Sarah has been issued with the same instruction! Lots of banter between Lynn Bowles & Ken Bruce this morning. In any case, it seems to me that the BBC wanted more in the way of chat, going by recent signings to Radio 2 & 6 music, though I've noticed some improvement in the latter station, not least with the signing of the late John Peel's lad!

The banter between Sarah and Lynn came back on Thursday and show lynn the picture feature. Sarah said I havn't spoken to you for a few days. Has there been a complaint made? Laughing

I like to say many thanks Bob Shennan for my kind email reply Wink

How can you claim Bob Shennan is running Radio 2 badly when its audience has increased to 14.57 million? Clearly, Bob Shennan is doing something right, though Chris Evans is said to be the reason why Radio 2's audience has increased.

I am not in favour of all the changes Bob Shennan has made to the network, but there is no evidence that he is doing a bad job. If he was, then Radio 2's audience would have nosedived.

Well it depends on your point of view - I listen to a lot less Radio 2 these days, so in my book he's not doing a good job. Now, if he were to get rid of Evans and Carr, that would be a start!

I am looking forward to Tom Ravenscroft on 6 Music. I daresay he learned a lot from his late father and will pass his musical knowledge and passion onto his listeners. That said, I am disappointed that Bruce Dickinson has been axed.

I confess that I also listen to less of Radio 2 these days, particularly at the weekends.

Chris Evans is far too loud and boisterous for me first thing in the morning. I don't want to be yelled at when I am driving to work. It's a shame that Simon Mayo wasn't considered to succeed Terry Wogan.

I don't care if audiences have increased, I think the decisions he's made are appalling and not consistent with the station's remit.

It's all put into context when considering how the been is still planning to axe a much better station - 6Music. They're going for the popular vote and don't give a stuff about the other audiences.

Interestingly, I read today that 100 BBC employees are paid more than the Prime Minister. That alone speaks volumes.

The station is working very well. Radio 2 is very diverse. So people who are discouraged with the output should retune.

Unfortunately they're trying to cater for a wide audience and not just you! If you don't like it RETUNE YOUR RADIO!

I mean an audience which numbers more than 1 person as you seem to think that everything they do should meet with your approval!

That is very unfair. I don't expect a radio station to be run for MY benefit, but I'm willing to wager there are a great many people who feel as disillusioned with radio 2 as I do.

And I DO retune my radio - for most of the day now that Sarah and Ken are the only decent ones left on daytime R2.

I can't find anything elsewhere to listen to, so my radio is off more than it is turned on these days. Sad times for someone who has been a radio addict ever since the pirates hooked me in many moons ago. Crying or Very sad

I can assure you there are many who are far from happy with the output of Radio 2. So we are not alone, and it's not asking for the earth to have one station that cater's for those who don't like the style of either Radio 1 or Commercial radio.

Like you Angela I feel sad, as I've listened to radio ever since I can remember.

I think you'll find that many people already do. Radio 2 has become unbearable for mych of the day, unfortunately.

However, you're forgetting something Mark: everyone who contributes to the BBC's budget has a right to complain.

Absolutely - we shouldn't have to retune, Radio 2 should rethink it's entire ethos and try to win back the disgruntled millions.

We've stopped listening to SK now. Apart from the fact that we're an hour ahead at the moment, (so we get more of her than we used to), I'm tired of her continually turning up with hay fever, trapped nerves, pulled muscles, sore throats etc that seem to mean she can't articulate/read/see/think. I used to be an SK fan but she's lost her edge now.

So we've retuned (you'll be glad to hear Shaky) to Absolute Radio as soon as we wake up. And then we leave it there throughout the shouty one's self-promotional fully interactive .... whatever, and then if Zoe is standing in for Ken we continue to leave it there. More often than not we forget to tune back for Vine, though we do usually catch Wright, Mayo and for three nights Radcliffe & Maconie.

Emma Bunton on Heart does it for us on Saturday instead of the deadly Dermot and braying Carr so all in all, we're occasional R2 listeners now. Well done, my BBC. Rolling Eyes

Given the current management style of Radio 2 you're probably right. The dominance of Evans in the R2 schedule is very much like a rash - no matter how much you scratch it you never seem to get rid of the symptoms!

All that & all the upheaval he's caused at The One Show! I wonder what I'll be watching on Friday evenings instead of Don't Forget Your Toothbrush mk 2!

When does Evans start on TOS? Hadn't realised how appropriate that acronym would be Embarassed

Yet another barmy decision by TPTB at the beeb - take an already popular show and drive away many of it's viewers Rolling Eyes

I do! I rarely visit this place any more because it has got so repetitive with some people turning threads into a moan about Evans. This very thread is a perfect example. Mark starts off posting about Sarah Kennedy and it only takes to the 2nd post before you come wading in whinging about "the shouty one". At least some of the people who dislike Evans such as ColinB seem capable of putting their point across rationally and at relevant times.
