I noticed on the schedules for next Saturday, Steve Lamacq & the Comedy Hour are swapping places, with Steve starting at 10pm and the Comedy moved later to 11pm. Not sure if this is permanent, but Bob Shennan doesn't seem to know what to do with the comedy zone - can't they just axe it and give us an earlier hour of Bob Harris instead?... It is a music station, or so I thought? |

Nope, "The remit of Radio 2 is to be a distinctive mixed music and speech service" (hence Jeremy Vine, Claudia Winkleman) and have also committed to a comedy output.
See http://www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/statements2010/radio/radio2.shtml
If it were me, I'd put a half-hour panel show or classic comedy in the 7pm slot Mon - Thurs, then have the regular programming and move In Concert to Saturdays. But I'm not Bob Shennan! |

He doesn't seem to know much about anything, I reckon. |

Comedy hour does suffer schedule changes as it's a pre-record which can be sloted in anywhere. Shame some other pre-records don't suffer the same fate. |
