I've been hearing parts of Dale Winton sitting in for Steve wright on Radio 2 and enjoyed what I heard.
Could we anticipate the possebility of Dale replacing Wright on a long term basis??

I would hope so. He's certainly a better presenter - particularly in that slot - in my opinion.

No no no... Steve's the main man for the afternoon slot.. Wink although I must admit, I really like Dale's style..
Dale would be good in Ken Bruce's slot but I wouldn't want to see Ken go either.. Confused we need a new station!

Yawn .......... Yawn.. I remember a few years ago Mark Radcliffe covered for Wrighty for around 4 weeks. Like usual they are intitled to holidays, which are around 25 days paid holiday + bank holidays which some take off. It doesn't mean he's been sacked or leaving.

As mentioned in another thread, he's on a training course learning how to broadcast in a style that's not rooted in the 80s. Apparently Evans has been lined up for that course as well.

I understand that the BBC will soon be offering another course for radio presenters, too: how to present a show that isn't totally dependent upon "listener interaction" (as in "Interactive fun for all the family" at Breakfast time).

It could be a winner for the BBC, given the state of indepedendent commercial radio - especially at breakfast!

When I first saw Dale Winton slotted in as a DJ on Radio 2 I shuddered. But listening to him, he is very good.
Far better than Steve Wright!
I do admire Steve Wright for telling Mathew Bannister where he could shove it, but his afternoon show has become tiresome & predictable. Dale is the man. Commeth the Hour, Commeth the Man!

He spends much of his year living in Florida, so he might not want a permanent weekday gig.
