Normally I'd have ARFM on on a Sunday afternoon, but as the signal broke down, I put 6 Music on instead.
Jarvis Cocker had John Cooper Clarke on as a guest, and during the interview he said that Phil Harris's 'Woodman, Woodman, Spare That Tree' was one of his inspirations as a writer. I'd never heard this all the way through, though I can remember my brother was always repeating the chorus at home!
There is also a pub called the Woodman in Churwell, and I always think of the record when passing it on the bus! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I've only heard two John Cooper Clarke tracks ( Psycle Sluts and Beasley Street ) and I liked his style.. I'll have to YouTube him and see what comes up! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I didn't instantly recognise who Phil Harris was but of course I do now! I loved his voice as a kid.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Clarke also guested on the Shaun Keaveney show later - 'Readers' Wives' was played. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
