Radio 2 are not trying to bring back the old era Richard Allinson on Early Breakfast followed by Chris Tarrant Breakfast. ( When they both hosted it on Capital ) I wonder if this may happen in 2007?

This would kick some arse at Capital for those listeners who used to tune into them both on the station! Smile

Richard Allinson has the ability to be able to cover any time slot in the schedules and still sounds brilliant.

Personally I think he covers the Steve Wright afternoon show very well indeed but equally he sounds at home on both the Dawn Patrol and the Breakfast shows.

The man is simply the complete professional.

It would be great if Terry and Sarah were both to retire in 2007 then as replacements Allinson and Tarrant would be perfect.

What if Richard was to replace Terry?
Think about the scenario.
Whoever replaces Terry there will be some who will not tune in again.
But who was covering for Terry recently and doing a sterling job.
They could have shifted everyone round but Richard for me could be an excellent Breakfast host.
It has to change within 2-3 years so my vote goes to RA.
Don't think Tarrant would want to get up at 5am again..do you?

If and when TW retires, I'd still listen regularly if RA took over. Wouldn't bother if Tarrant did, though. He might be alright as filler on a New Year's Eve but I couldn't hack him doing a regular slot.

Neither of them would have me jumping out of bed to listen to them. I think we know it will be someone else. But Terry isn't going anywhere for a while. He may see off a few more successors before he leaves.

No, I really don't think Allinson will do mornings when Terry retires. Apart from the obvious signs (all his shows have been axed!) they'll want someone with a bit of oomph.

An expression Richard uses a lot.

The latest one is an introduction to his daily show on BFBS Radio 2 show "Hello the next 2 hours are the Soundtrack to your day".

By the way are you tuning into Richard's excellent weekend shows on BBC Radio Oxford-Allinsons Albums and his Sunday morning show-simply radio entertainment at its best.

Richard Allinsion rocks.

I was a big fan of Voyager. Janeway in particular...
I thought it was superb, so much better the the latest Star Trek series with the Quantum Leap guy, very poor.
Trouble is, I missed the last show!! did you get home???

JanewayDar - you're welcome - it's a different take on Star Trek - "Space, the final battleground", centres around section 31. They do 20-25 min episodes. However, later ones have the Daleks in, so if you can put the purist in you to one side, they're quite enjoyable.

Cherskiy, agree - the shark was well and truly jumped by then.

Tell you what though, really enjoying the re-imagined Battlestar galactica.

Yes, I went through them like a hot knife through butter, I tell people if you dont like Sci-Fi, you'll still love this.

It's like watching a movie every episode. Can't wait for series 3 on DVD - don't have sky and even if I did - I couldn't wait a week for the next episode!!

Andy, I watched the first seriesbut then gave up as it appeared to be going nowhere. I remembered the original Glen Larson production, and IMO the storylines were better first time round.

Also, a female STARBUCK? and Boomer, not only now of oriental extraction, but a cylon as well. Such things do not sit well in this house.

Yeah, I know what you mean, that's how I felt when I saw the intro pilot film. But if you view it as a different sci-fi show, it's great. Know what you mean about not going anywhere in series 1, it did take an awful long time to tell aspects of the story but the pay off was great.

Did you know Richard Hatch wanted to revive Galactica before the new show, he put together a 4 min promotiom video, he was in old Colonial Warrior uniform and it looked ok.

Completely agree with you - I guess the difference between 70-80's tv and today is that the programmes have moved into a naturalistic mode - that is you can't imagine anyone in the old shows to speak like that in real life but you could with new series'.

Also, Classic Star Trek and some of Classic Battlestar Galactica could be shown in any order but are now you need to see in order.

You watch West Wing? that's one of the best things that's been on the box in decades!
