Good riddance, I say! His style is very 90s and he's become a bore, in my opinion.

It won't be a "brand new chat show" it will just be another incarnation of a tiresome programme format that's way past its sell-by date. I'll put money on it that he lasts nowhere near as long at ITV as he did at the Beeb. |

I'll certainly miss the R2 show. I found it consistently entertaining and intelligent, with a good mix of music.
Not heard Norton on the radio but I'm not optimistic, not being a fan of overcooked camp.

Well I've got the radio on just now and I've never heard such a load of rubbish............Jedward are on. 
Graham Norton can't be any worse. It will depend who his producer is I'd say though.
Ross can be okay but he can be absolutely awful as well.

That session with the Jedwards was appalling. We were driving up to the north today, and had to turn the volume down after about 5 minutes of that mindless drivel. It was so irritating.

Since I'm knocking on a bit, I was only vaguely aware of Jedward. I wish to God it had stayed that way. Interviewing them/it was a torture that should be outlawed by international law. And to follow, the migraine-inducing screeching that is Alan Carr. Maybe I'm being broken in for the camp screeching of Norton. Still, all sins forrgiven by having Tom Jones at the end

I like Ross tongue and cheek remark with Alan Carr on his last show " It's Gay weekend with Graham Norton joining soon" 
I have a funny feeling Andy will be joining Ross somewhere soon on a radio station like Absoulte? |

I like Jonathan Ross (most of the time ) he's a talented and witty man.
And according to this article in yesterday's Independent, just like Arnie ..he'll be back...on Radio 2 if not on BBC TV

Station controller says he would be happy to have his outgoing star back again
Jonathan Ross is already being lined up for a return to the BBC.
Ahead of today's broadcast of his final show on Radio 2, the head of the network said he hoped to persuade the star presenter to come back to the station in the near future.
Bob Shennan, controller of Radio 2 and 6 Music, told The Independent: "I'm pleased that he's leaving with a positive feeling about the BBC and that he's left Radio 2 with a good vibe between us, which means that if the right project turns up that maybe he will consider that.
"I hope that he's left the BBC in such a way that he's left the door open to come and do some more things."
Shennan said that he believed Ross's ITV contract did not prevent him working for other employers.

| Does seem there's less of a fuss about him leaving the Radio 2 show, despite that being the thing that got him the TV show in the first place! Perhaps it's because the scandal started on radio, or perhaps it's not a final farewell. I, for one, would be happy to have him stand in for Steve Wright sometime. |

I guess Ross has kept his options open, and Bob Shennan has offered him a chance to maybe cover a show if he wants too. I wouldn't think he would come back much before next year to give people chance to forget about him and others to blend in. |

There are two types of broadcast talent contracts: "Exclusive" (which Woss was on) and "Non-Exclusive" which lots of people are on (and which are a lot cheaper). I doubt whether he'll be on an exclusive deal with ITV, although it could be exclusive to TV.

I don't think Ross has had many options to consider. The top brass of all UK broadcasters are in a tight-knit circle and Ross's reputation was sealed by his own stupidity.
I'd bet that his deal with ITV isn't worth anything like his exclusive BBC deal, especially if there's no production company involved (like his own Open Mic). |

Actually, I've got really annoyed with the way the papers have reported his new salary for ITV, saying he's getting £900,000 compared to £6m at the BBC.
This overlooks the fact that:
a) he wasn't getting £6m at the BBC
b) whatever he was getting had to pay for at least 25 hours of chatshow, numerous documentaries, and at least 120 hours of radio - including all guests, crew and costs.
c) these costs will still have to be paid in whatever new contract he has with ITV so they must still be paying him at least £2m for less than a third of the content the BBC were getting.
But he can still produce shows for the BBC, Channel 4 and anyone else; carry on writing his top-selling comic; and be content that his wife is now writing and producing multi-million pound Hollywood movies. I don't think he's going to see much of a drop in income. |

Actually, it's the other way round. Ross's production company gets the commissions. The company then engages all the professional services and technical facilities required to fulfil the contract - and out of the total sum paid comes the presenter's fee. Andy Davis is contracted by the production company too (on a freelance contract basis) so he's hardly living out of Ross's back pocket any more than I'm living out of the back pocket of any of my clients. That's just the way things are for many people working in broadcasting and the media in general. |
