Humph! It always happens on those days when you think, I'll have a lie in then listen on the I-player later....

I think they're tinkering around with the Radio 2 website. AGAIN.

As I write the i-player is showing Service Unavailable for everybody, the layout of Chris Evans' pages has changed, and I can't get into Alex's show page at all.

Whole BBC website went pop last night, much to my annoyance as I was trying to get the Twenty20 cricket commentary on 5 live extra. Came back on about 9pm in limited form then slowly got better.

Yes, all back to normal. You can have a double helping this morning.

Lots of problems with the iPlayer servers last night. My wife was trying to catch up on a couple of BBC TV programmes via the Wii into the TV and it was no-go.

There's a couple of things on the i-player worth putting your life on hold for this morning, so you can listen uninterrupted.

... the last hour ( the magic hour) of Alex ...the most amazing music: if you don't have time for the whole hour, then check-out this one track...it's from Lester's Library and is brilliant!

The other things is the interview with Brian Johnson ( AC/DC) on the Chris Evans Show, it starts, well it's around 08:40 ish I think it was. Even if you don't like Chris Evans, you shouldn't let that get in the way of enjoying something special, cos special it was.

I'll give it a go, Rachel.

Sorry, Rachel, but it's a "no". I'm not much interested in AC/DC and the proverbial wild horses wouldn't drag me in Evans' direction!!!

Me neither. I do like AC/DC and if it was anyone else doing the interviewing then I would make the effort.

That's such shame you two. You really should check it out - even if afterwards, you have to swear on pain of death that you didn't listen to it, you should. I had no clue who Brian Johnson was until I saw him on top gear a while back- he's real proper geordie bloke.

Here's Brian Johnson before he replaced Bon Scott in AC/DC.

OK, I may live to regret it, but I've put the morning on hold - what's a bit of dust on the furniture and fluff on the stair carpet anyway? - and I feel as though I've been through a wringer.

Steve Azar... yes it's a song that makes you feel very warm and tender. Thirty, twenty, even ten years ago it would have made me reach for the sick bucket - must be my age; all this time and the only thing I thought was soft was the g in my surname. (CD is an eyewatering price, but you can dowload it cheaply enough). Not only, but also Rumer, and Astrud Gilberto, and, in a different way, Nanci Griffith and Laura Marling. But then, to make sure you don't go to mush completely you get Morten Harket's Gap In The Market, and the 4.15 One-Off Canteen, Status Quo and Little Angels.

Surreal. God forbid that they should ever really combine or sell-off one or both of Radios 1 or 2, because, as sure as eggs are eggs, those three hours of eccentricity will be lost. Alex might not be, but he couldn't do that any other time or place.

Chris Evans "interview" with Brian Johnson is another matter. Johnson has a book to promote, and the band have an (inadequate best of...) album tie-in with a film; he was offered on a plate. How fortunate that they both love motors, or else they'd have had nothing to talk about; as it was it sounded like reading a list from the Observer's Book of Cars. I'm not an AC/DC expert (I've only got Highway to Hell and Back In Black) and I certainly didn't learn anything new about them: Johnson sounds a character - he's got the hoarse Geordie voice for it - he needs another interviewer to bring it out.

It's not the having to swear on pain of death that I didn't listen that bothers me - it's the actual listening to Evans that bothers me. I might end up damaging something in sheer frustration! Cool
