There's a great interview with Phill Jupitus in today's Guardian, which you can read here:

Must admit I'm not his biggest fan, but this gives an interesting insight into Lesley Douglas and the BBC's way of working.

It's worth reading the Biographies of those radio 2 DJs that have written them and you get an idea of how the beeb works (especially Johnnie Walker & Ken Bruce's books) from them.

I think it's a brilliant interview with Jupitus - he comes across as very honest, and I like his understanding of what radio is in the modern world. I never listened to him, but I wish I had.

I rarely listened to Jupitus on 6 music, largely because a DAB receiver was (and is) out of reach at that time of day, but when I did I enjoyed most of the music he played and the style in which he presented it.

I respect him for speaking out against the mafia-like regime that's now running the BBC and I just hope others have the guts to do the same. The BBC is soon to face the biggest fight of its life if the current joke of a government gets its way and will need all the support it can get. For that reason, high profile broadcasters are going to have to stand up and be counted - but clueless channel chiefs and senior managers are going to have to be cleared out first. I count the current Radio 2 Controller among their number.

I saw the link and he's right about the controllers. I used to listen to him and Phil Wilding on weekday mornings and they had a good rapport with each other.

He's right about the samey playlists now.

Did anyone see him on Chatty Man? Alan Carr cut him off early so he could creep to Gary Lineker and his toy girl longer. I loved Jupitus's comparison of the Heart playlist to lift music!

Carr also asked Jupitus: 'Why do you like obscure music?', which is something my mum asks me.
