Thanks for the info Mark, I should be okay on Sunday so long as I don't get called in to work! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Mark, where is Allinson's Albums today? I tuned in but there is no show and having looked on the BBC York website, it is not in the listings for this weekend. It is published in the Radio Times listings though! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Yes Angela no show today-a major disappointment.
I guess Richard has been otherwise occupied with Drivetime this past week and the weekend shows to record this weeks Allinsons Albums.
North Yorkshire are listing it in next weekends schedules-Saturday and Sunday. Lets hope this is true.
NB-Hope the weather in Yorkshire is not too bad for you and your are able to get to and from work ok |

Thanks Mark, I did wonder if that might be the case.....I wish the Radio Times was more accurate, every week I seem to tune in for something which they say will be on and find it isn't. Still I suppose I can't complain as we have had Richard Allison on every day this week.
(The weather is not too good here, the snow is about a foot deep, but I have seen other places worse off on the news. We can't get the car out and so I'm using some holiday. It is a quiet time so not a problem if it doesn't go on too long, otherwise it will be back to walking the 2.5 miles to work!) _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Another good show today playing some of my favourites. I enjoyed it so much that I am going to listen to the first hour again tomorrow before Mr Walker starts on R2! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Another enjoyable listen today. Heard a few tracks that were new to me and many old favourites too. All in all a very good show, worthy of a prime slot on Radio 2. Are you listening Mr Shennan? _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Another brilliant show delivered today by RA.
Really enjoyed the 3 of the best feature from the new Stranglers compilation album. I had not realised how long they had been going as a band. |

I'll look forward to listening to the show tomorrow then Mark, I like the Stranglers too. (Had to go on a course today). _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Could not believe RA played Rolf Harris and his version of Stairway to Heaven on his Allinson Albums Show Saturday 27th March.
Fantastic stuff Richard. |

I usually hate covers but I always loved Rolf's version of the classic Zepp song, made especially cool because he performed it at Glastonbury to rapturous applause a few years back. |

Richard featured 3 of the best from the new Goldfrapp album on his show (3/4/10). Have to say love the songs played.
Will probably buy the CD this coming week.
A good mixture of old and new music played again/as always. |

On Allinsons Albums today Richard featured 3 of the best from the new album by Harper Simon called the same name.
The songs sounded brilliant and certainly will be another CD I will buy this coming week.
Harper Simon is the son of one Paul Simon-clearly a chip of the old block.
Good work Richard-another new artist brought to our attention. |

Glad this show is pre-recorded-wouldn't want to miss it if Richard over slept!
Anyhow this weeks show (18/4) brilliant as always. |

It seems that Allinsons Albums has a new "going out time" on Saturday lunchtimes of 1pm-3pm from now on on Radio York-moved from its old time of a 12.30pm start. |

I have been working all of the last few weekends, just noticed Allinson's Albums wasn't in the Radio Times listings this week. Has he been scuppered while my back was turned? (I am sure Mark M will know, thanks Mark!) _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Hi Angela,
I've not been listening for a while but on reading your post had a look round the iPlayer out of curiosity.
Seems the last show was on Wed 09 Jun at 1900 and it's on iPlayer now. Next one this Wednesday at the same time.
It's also on Radio Cumbria at the same time.

Have been meaning to post about Allinson's Albums for a while but have been bogged down with work of late and indeed have been trying to secure a new job (of my dreams) which I have now done.
Simply put AA's is no longer part of Radio York's schedule.
Instead as Helen says, it just goes out on Radio Cumbria-Sundays-2-4pm ana again on a Wednesday evening-7-9pm.
What's good about this is that the show is completely free of both news and traffic reports-just 2 hrs of pure magic.
Apologies for the delay in updating info here.
Allinson rocks. |

Mark as far as I could see Richard is on Radio York this Wednesday as well so it would seem that it's just a change in schedule.

Thanks Helen and Mark. I have just emailed Radio York to ask what is happening with AA as its the only show I listen to on 'my local radio station'.
I will post back on this if I get a reply. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Reply just received.........
I'm very sorry to tell you that we have had to end the Albums show, and the listings in the Radio Times are sadly wrong.
It was a really hard decision to take - the show has been running for three years and I was expecting it to grow a bigger audience, but sadly this didn't happen.
Local Radio has been set the objective of prioritising its resources into key times and to improve the quality of its journalism. This meant that we stood down the Albums show, and in its place is a new show recorded by Jerry Scott from our Scarborough studio.
I hope you are able to enjoy the new show.
Allinson's Albums is still available online as it was also commissioned by BBC Radio Cumbria - here are the links on iPlayer, which I hope you find helpful.

That's not good news is it Angela? I hope Radio Cumbria don't do the same thing. I must remember to 'listen again' to it more regularly, but my radio listening has dropped to an alltime low at the moment.

Thanks Helen, sadly it is no longer on our local station, BBC York. I think it is still on BBC Cumbria, but I prefer listening to a radio rather than being stuck by the computer. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

There are lots of ways that the internet stream can be monitored without having to use "the computer", many of which are portable and can hook into the secure WiFi connection of the broadband router.
I don't listen to FM radio in the house any more; the only place I do is in the car - but even that's pretty rare due to the variable quality of R2's programming these days! |
