Seems I'm out of pre-mod, I wonder if Gibbo is as well?

The thing I noticed about being banned is. That when you are banned- any e-mails you send to a show and I guess anywhere at the beeb don't actually get there. It's like they just cut you ( or at least that e-mail address) off. |

Well I write to a presenter several times a week- and have had the same e-mail address for many many years now- now and again he writes back- with a question or an answer to something I'd asked, but months went by and I didn't hear from him- still kept sending stuff in though- thought I'd upset him. But then by accident I e-mailed him from the e-mail adress I use only for internet shopping - he repiled almost instantly asking why I hadn't been in touch for ages? |

Maybe they went into the 'spam' box Rachel. I had a reply from someone in the Beeb who apologized for not replying as they had just checked their spam and found the email there.

Yeah, no reason given though. Its probably because I made an official complaint about the biased and generally poor moderating over there. I pointed out the high number of hidden posts and threads and suggested that there must be something incompetent happening for this to be the case.
I've certainly no problem if people think its nothing more than a difference of opinion between two posters. But its not, there are loads of people on there not happy and making their grievance known - before it gets removed or they get moved into "pre moderation".
No doubt the mods have been investigated by someone senior and I've been banned in some sort of petty revenge. |

Ah if only I wasn't suspended, I'd have given Peta hell (then been banned) for getting involved in some arguments but not others. She has stepped in to say CE shouldn't be axed and replaced... but never had done the same when certain people call for others to be axed and replaced... Funny that isn't it! |

It is indeed. It's clear evidence (in my mind, anyhow) that she and her colleagues are working under a higher directive to ensure that negative criticism of Evans is marginalised. |

Last night (sunday) I was at a pub and overheard a discussion about radio and the topic of Radio 2 breakfast came up and the general opinion seemed to be that Terry Wogan was the better. One of the bar staff (who was probably half my age - perhaps even less than that) expressed a very negative opinion of the current incumbant. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

This is interesting, because a lot of talk is of Evans attracting "younger" listeners. Yet in my experience people of my age and younger (I'm 35) get wound up too. If someone's listening to Radio 2 at all it's because they want something more considered, more "mature" than Radio 1 or ILR and I don't think Evans provides that.
He could. But he doesn't. |

A very interesting observation. Other than Alan Carr's Saturday night show I don't think Radio 2 does very much to keep a younger audience if that's their aim, unless its a younger audience with broad musical tastes.
One show which does definitely attract young and old is Radcliffe and Maconie. You only have to listen to the "shout outs" from parents to their teenage children, or listeners to their more older parents. |

I've said before that my son and his friends, who are all in their mid-20s, would never dream of listening to Evans on Radio 2 (or anywhere else for that matter).
Funnily enough, when he and his girlfriend were around at our house on a Friday evening recently, he caught a glimpse of Evans on The One Show and immediately exclaimed "That bloody dickhead gets everywhere. Can we switch it off?".
That's my boy. |

How pathetic.
Has anyone noticed how dead the board has become? |

Has he been banned I wonder? There haven't been any posts from him since Sunday, althought it says 'yesterday' on some posts.

Thanks for that info. I'm going to submit a formal written complaint that the moderating team is failing to act in the best interests of the Messageboard user base to the point where the boards themselves are now little more than instruments of the BBC's PR machine designed to put selected broadcasts in the best possible light despite their shortcomings.
I urge others to do the same - let's make this a "class action"! |

Except of course that you're complaining to the team you're complaining about. You could address the complaint to one of the board, but I'm not sure that it's worth the effort. Sooner or later the board will be withdrawn, as the 1, 5 and 6 have already, and I'm not sure that that wouldn't be such a bad idea. _________________ Ron |

To be honest I'm not bothered about being banned, it's more a point of principle. The more people that do the same, the more pressure will be placed upon the whole MB management system. |

It could easily be the same person because not long after Evans started on breakfast I questioned why it was that he had appeared to switch sides and was now supporting the show's new presenter and format. He replied in a manner that immediately put his post into review (so I didn't get to see what he'd written!). I was right though - he did change his opinion overnight, which proves that he's merely spamming/trolling and out to cause trouble. |

A complaint to BBC R4's Feedback might get a quicker response, though I don't know when Feedback will be in the schedule next.
BBC Trust? I see the chairman Sir Michael Lyons is stepping down in a few months, he's had enough too
Looks like it'll have to be the Daily Mail _________________ -

Fair enough but it's not a new log in number and if you look at the other posts they are nearly all on the 606 board. I'm not sure that's you know who's other interest?

It's all sorted now.
Peta has just announced:
the Radio 2 boards will close at midday this Friday 17th September 2010.
At last, the end.
Hmm, she hasn't posted a link to R2ok forum _________________ -

I can't bring myself to write to the Mail but a stern, straight-to-the-point to the Radio 2 Controller will be my first port of call.
IMHO it's really important to have an independent, campaigning and high-profile presence on the web, too, because sites like Digital Spy and The Register get noticed by those who should be taking notice! |

I think the closing of all MBs is a cost-cutting measure, to be honest. I'm assuming that it's been moderated largely inhouse and it's no secret that all BBC departments have been told to cut absolutely everything to the bone where possible - especially in web-related departments.
With the in-house web team already being depleted I can't see how they'll even consider keeping the R2MB open. I don't really see the point, either! |

So it wasn't just me then?
I got really irritated with Scott and complained. They said they wouldn't ban his post - which wasn't my main point, as I was really complaining about him. Then, I discover I'm in pre-mod. I sent 3 queries and had a post removed and now I'm not in pre mod. Considering I post on there as often as I post on here .....I am trying to get a life away from boards!
I won't miss the R2 board - it was like having a scab to pick....sorry |
