A few new names this week, some I expect from the BBC forum which is closing.

So,

Big welcome to geminiman, Soulsister, Barney Trubble

Good to be here John.

I don't know what you've done to upset the Radio 2 mods but every time a link to this site appears (or even a mention!) it gets modded quick sharp whereas links to other forums are allowed to stay. I just got modded in about five seconds flat for pointing out the double standards.

Anyway, good to be here and am amazed to see so many familiar names. Hope a few more make their way over here.

Hi Soulsister,

I explained on a thread here, where several of us were sharing banning experiences Smile that I got suspended by the BBC a while back when complaining about ageism by one or two posters and suggesting that Peta and the mods were behaving in an ageist manner, and I think that was the last straw (I'd earlier repeatedly complained about trolls disrupting threads about specialist programmes).

A sad thing really - I'd previously got on very well with Peta, exchanging pm's and she even joined this forum but never posted.

Peta's membership here is still active, I'd welcome postings from her explaining things - Note: I have altered her e-mail in her profile so that she doesn't get bothered with pm's from here. If she wants to be fully active she only has to contact me.

Hello SoulSister and welcome to R2ok! Razz

Yes, you're right about that, I just posted a link to this board to help somebody find us and it was removed immediately.. I don't understand why!

Welcome to everyone from me too.
I see 'Sadie Su's name in the 'just registered' bit at the bottom of the index page. She's a refugee fron the R2 board. Mostly saw her in the 'Coffee shop' thread.

And here's the content of that surviving post:

"Peta no one has asked the most obvious question what are you going to be doing now best of luck to you for the future in whatever you do

As an alternative to the trendy kiddy sites like facebook and twitter et al don't forget www.R2OK.co.uk it has a lot of the posters from er on it - i'll be joining up - if they let me."

Whilst I don't agree with the "trendy kiddy" reference, I do agree with the basic argument. It's interesting to see the number of suspended posts! Paranoid mods or what?

Who has instructed this course of action, I wonder?

Hi Rachel.

I remember you from the Radio 2 board! It was the Alex Lester fanship that gave it away.

Been reading through all the threads and am amazed at how many names I recognise on here.

Hope a few more manage to make it over. Still feeling very sad (and angry) about the closure of the Radio 2 boards - the way it was announced and is being implemented in particular. Crying or Very sad

Certainly makes some other screen names here seem square!

Hmmm 'square' rather dates me to the 1960's eh? Smile

But The manfromuncle is 60's too Razz

Thanking you kindly for the warm welcome.

Looks pretty cool in this backyard. Nobody stealing your ball every 2 minutes like those moderating type folk over on the soon to be thrown in the broadcasting bin - Radio 2 News and Views.

I am a lurker here, from there, now actually here. God bless the internet.

I am indeed a he, although I have been called an 'it' on occasion, but never a 'her', well, not to date, not with these legs and stubble Wink

Nice to be here.

Hello to the new newbies Smile

Themanfromuncle... "Lurker" oooh that sounds sinsister- say it again, I like that Smile How about observer, arms length enthusiast – casual onlooker, innocent bystander? Wink

I like 'occasional peruser of content associated with one's own interests', but that's a bit too long, so I went for lurker. However, on reflection, that does sound like I have the propensity for hiding in bushes intimidating members of the general public, which I have never done (I promise), so I'll take your suggestion and tweak it to, Casual Netsitter.

Innocent, as a description of myself, is something I'm afraid I can't lay claim to Wink
